June 11

So my KA gave me a little headstart on my RB swap.

Happened Sat. night at 1am 30miles away from home. Put her in reverse. figured the transmission seized up and broke the input shaft and made the motor rip all the mounts and jumped into my hood and damage my radiator. Pulled the transmission off the driveshaft and the clutch line. Can't shift.

So watch and be aware of your mounts, especially on our RB's eek.

I refuse to fix to run the KA. Parts for the RB await

GEEZ! Note to self: double-check mount condition.

So your transmission siezed up? How the hell does something like that happen?

i have no idea, maybe low or bad gear oil, but funny thing was it all happened at like 3mph in reverse.

I'll see when I tear it apart.

Today was very VERY fustrated and might just give up. I have a beast parts table finally growing but I have found myself skimpping over parts and defeating the whole rebuild idea. So I was thinking along the lines of doing:

Sell off some ultra tight rebuild parts and buy another motorset/ long block and swap it in ASAP. Then rebuild my other RB slowly and properly. ?

Not happy right now

This is the problem with the incredibly baller RB builds.. they take so long and so much money/stress/devotion, that they loose the builders interest. I almost gave up on my RB swap about 5 times, and then another 5 after it was finished when I ran into random problems..

My stuff is finally coming together, motor looks good, runs good, and has about 250 whp.

Just think how much of a payoff you have in store.. I say keep on keepin on.

Good luck.

Hey CoolWhip i was thinking the same. Just buying a Stocky RB20 Motor and throwing it in the car for the time being. Then Take my RB20 long block and build that for the next year or so. And also just upgrade the stocky has i go. Then once the Spare Block is finished with its re-build then i will swap and have some fun. lol. I think its a great idea. Theres no rush thats how i figure it. Plus the rebuild will take alot of money and im trying to get my suspension re-done before the drifting season starts and trying to build a motor at teh same time doesn't work out financially, cuz i'm not baller.

Well as some of you may have seen in the Classifieds... I'm finished. Finished with trying, buying, and crying over this RB.

It was a long haul (not as long as some) but I have officially transferred my NRRBA membership to Lifetime status.

But do not fear I have not left entirely, one day I will hopefully return to complete.

yah this sucks! I hope you don't stop posting pictures of scarlett johansen and her twins! Seriously though, what is your bump in the road? It looks like you have all the parts to get it running, just some machine work and assembly.

The HKS manifold has been sold with that turbo set up.

A few priority reasons jumped up and bit me this semester between school, morgage, and lingering bills.

Plus I'm tired of driving a N/A 240sx, and tired of seeing a 240sx in my driveway in general.

I drive 70miles a day round trip to go to work alone, thats not including school and what not.

So maintaining a stupid old car while upgrading every element that might need upgrading in antisipation of the swap starts to add up.

Darius, you are correct not much left execpt machine work and assembly. However, my draw back is that I'm some what a perfectionist. Probably the reason why I tore down the motor 3 times before swapping it, even though it was in good working order to begin with.

So my list is endless at this point and my goals are within the tolerance of my build however, the build will defentantly surpass my goals. Cost vs. benifit analysis pretty much.

I'm gearing up for something, special for summer. With that said buy my parts!!! So i can get enough money. If not I will have to satisfy this need with another...
