It's not just a cable. If you crack it open there is a microchip encoded with the proper protocols and software to read extra information that the car has, much like a Consult 3 cable connection. You get access to the body control functions as well, so for example, rolling up and down windows, wipers, tire pressure light, headlights, monitor g forces etc.

It also stores your "key" on the cable and signifies what package you own. Also when the ROM gets written to your ECU a key is included as well. So the cable will only work on 1 car at a time.

There is no work around for this. The cable is designed to interact with the UpRev software which follows OBD2 standards and the extras that UpRev has included.

The software is much more complex and in depth that what it looks like.
