So I just got a greddy Spectrum SE and Uprev tune done. Ive really thought about boosting my 4 banger more and more lately but dont really know what steps to take to do so. But yeah heres a little photo shoot I did with my friend on the way back. We stopped off in the the everglades... I want to go somewhere else in town though

Nice LED Tails there. So you have a 2.5 CVT or MT?

How's it feel after the uprev tune?

Thanks! Theyre also slightly smoked too. I have cvt although i wish i had 6mt:( The tune made my take off more responsive. I feel like it climbs up in speed faster as well. The most noticeable i think may be the torque

Yeah, looks like you have most all performance mods for the 2.5 from what I can tell.

With that uprev tune, I bet you're well over 200hp by now. So how did the whole process work? Step by step?

Okay.. lol

If you're going to boost it you have half the battle done with UpRev. Just need a turbo kit. Various routes you can go... Sentra Spec V kits (make your own piping and changes along the way) for one.. :)

Just realize what you are getting into. :)

Mmmm and i can get a kit like this off ebay or something? I was thinking about going to fynetune or miami's exhaust and see what they can do. What route did you go down? Besides stress on the motor, especially if ur running high psi and dont have everything done right, what else am i getting into? :mike

I went the DIY route / ebay with pretty good success, however I dont recommend it unless you are very comfortable working on your car fixing things now and then.

Here's my forum thread on the whole ordeal...

scott-s-altima-coupe-2-5l-turbo-build-t443714.html

Its been working AWESOME since I rebuilt the turbo with a 35 dollar rebuild kit from ebay.

say bro nice ride. i have a 2.5s cvt also with pretty much the same mods. i was thinking about getting the bullydog gt tuner but i also e-mailed uprev wtih questions about a tune also. how much was yours and do u think it was worth it ?

my mods are intake and headers w/e-cutout and grounding kit. i plan on getting a pulley too but was just curious about your uprev tune.

Clean coupe you have there in the signature! I figured it was more worth it to get the upRev tune. I feel that the actual tune is a more custom tune and you'll notice your gains more. The guys there said i would be getting more power and seeing the difference if mine was a 6MT but i still feel like when i press on the gas that its just a continuous power... more open throttle. They also took of the governor so i can take my car as fast as it can go and it wont cut off if that makes a difference. I like to do everything right so i figured to spend a lil more to get a more custom tune. it was $600... and also came with 5 different settings

Did you have to buy the Cipher cable? That's the only thing beating me down about the process atm.

It was really simple... I didn't have to do anything really. I saw relentless rpm at HIN who is a dealership that do uprev tunes. They saw my car got the files from it then made a tune for it. I drove up to them in port Charlotte FL and then they tuned and dynod it

It's what was used to connect and do the dump of the ECU so UpRev could take that and tune your car.

They say it's propriety for "faster" communication which I'm not sure I buy into.

Yeah, they aren't very good about returning an e-mail that's for sure. Probably better to call them a consistent amount to get them. It sucks for those who don't have a shop near them that do the uprev tunes which in my case means I have to purchase the stupid Cipher cable and do the dump myself. Then find a dyno shop to do the tune here.

I'm not saying their tune doesn't do what it's suppose to, it's just the "process" that is the pain.

I was quoted the same 600 up here in MA at DSG (Dent Sport Garage). Probably going to get it done sometime in the spring after I am done paying for christmas gifts, skiing, and get my January Birthday money.

damn that sounds like a pain! The guy from relentless RPM drove over to take the file from me... it was about a 3 hour drive for me but he went the extra mile. besides that u should see if they can just mail u one and mail it back or something.... u gotta see the shop eventually to get the actual tune and dyno. all i had to do was drive 3 hours to have it done since he got my file before hand

Honestly you probably will want the cable in the end because it allows you use of Cipher and the Osiris program to dump and flash back to stock. Cipher includes a lot of features like data logging, clearing codes, etc.

So on and so forth...

As for the communication, I had no problems over e-mail. I agree though, if you're waiting, well.. face it, it's e-mail. Calling is the best and fastest way :).

What I would suggest doing is getting the Osiris Standard package. It comes with 3 eTunes, so if you add other mods in the future you can send your datalog and ROM to them. They will make adjustments and send the ROM back and you just simply flash it.

It's really worth having full control. I have the Tuner package myself so I can change and flash when I want. There is a learning curve for sure but it really is worth the cash.

^^ quick question, so what your saying is that you could reflash it unlimited times when you add mods into it?

My problem is that they say their cable is the only thing that will hook up to your car and do the tune. I mean, is there really no other solution???
