Ok my brother has a92 240sx 5spd which is all stock except CAI the problems are as follows

1. the car seems to have flat spots and bogging in power when pressing the pedal anywhere from 20%-100% (happens ALL the time)

2. some times the car will buck extremely bad when starting from a stop usually gets worse when you give it more gas but if you SLOWLY leave a stop it acts normal.

3. when the car is taken up to high rpms after bogging out before it can get to redline the car will stall when the clutch is pushed in, but after 5 or so minutes on very light driving or downhill coasting with clutch out it is fine again.

4. When the car is shut off it takes a couple seconds to actually shut off.

Im thinking one problem is the temp sending unit connector was cut off and "rigged" together with spade terminals. I also think all the problems are connected.

thanksGary

Welcome to NICO.

Search this site (button in the upper right corner of the window) and you will find a lot on what you need.

You could start by checking the ECU for trouble codes. At 240sx.org there is a writeup on how to do it, here is the link - http://240sx.org/faq/articles/ecm_codes_doch.htm

For the other issues, there is a sticky in the Nissan Online Mechanic forum that has things to check when you are having issues much like yours. Here is the link to that, too - zerothread?id=81587

For the bogging, I would check spark plugs and wires, MAF, injectors, oxygen sensor, and for leaks in the intake. Also, look up the AIV on here, it always helps to clean or remove that. Maybe something from that list is bad causing you to run rich or lean.

If the car keeps running after you shut it off, it sounds like detonation. If you use low octane fuel and the temperature in the cylinder is very high, the air/fuel mixture will ignite itself (without the spark plug) thus keeping itself running without the need of a spark. Are there any pinging noises while the car is running? Try using higher octane gas.

Hope I helped.
