yes, my friend if you have a huge exhaust leak at the flange to the turbo, it's not a good thing, that means you are loosing the exhaust thats suppose to be spooling the turbo heh.

Ive read alot about auto trannys on boost. a lot of people would say keep the auto transmission and put a good cooler on it. it sifts faster then any person can, plus you never miss a gear. the auto transmission can handle the HP. wish i would have keep mine, I did a 5 speed swap. to late now

lol lets trade cars then;) i am just tired of the auto.. i miss my old 5 speed and cant wait to get one in my car. although it is a pretty amazing feeling when your auto shifts under boost and you fly ahead of your opponent.

How is it holding up? Are you running a different trans cooler? Also, has your O/D light ever flashed repeatedly upon start up?

Thanks!

So far I'm really liking the auto trans + turbo combination. I've noticed it slipping after repeated highway runs, but I just need to change the fluid to a heavier weight.

question for ya:

So i just got my flange re-welded and we made sure it will not happen again. When i took my car for its first test run it boost like a maniac and was hauling ***. after it warmed up it went back to the same old thing. The more i boost the slower i accelerate. I have a feeling that it is my transmission:( one thing i noticed was that when i used to turn my overdrive off when i let off the gas my RPMs would fall to about idel. now when i turn over drive off it does not drop RPMs at all when i let of the gas.. can this be a sign that its my transmission?????

Well the problem with Automatic trannies is that they are very very picky about the fluid temps, and capacity since it works off of valve body and amount of pressure applied.

So if you think about it, when you drive hard all that stuff heats up especialy under boost, when that happens we all know your fluids loose their property. This might not necessarily be your transmission going bad just your transmission fluid heating up and not working like it's suppose to.

But then again if your transmission fluid isn't doing what it's suppose to it might also be doing damage to the transmission cause it's not doing it's job.

Usually turbo automatic cars have some type of a transmission fluid cooler installed.

good call.. yeah i will have to check into that. The wierd thing is that it ran fine on 8psi for about two weeks before it started doing this but i know for a fact it is heat because it just started to reach the mid 80's here which is the highest it has been since my car has been turboed. i drove to work dismorning when it was cool outside and it was fast as hell but one i got off the freeway and everything was warmed up it was doing it again. thank for the advice. i hope this is what it is so i can start laying the smack down on fools.. lol

Keep the auto, run a good trans fluid cooler, get a transmission controller, get a Shrifter.

Paddle shifting FTW!

Check theese out: Turbocharging your Auto 240sx

Paddle Shifted 240sx

Im going with a TC and the Shrifter. Do a search on transmission cooler. There is a great article written on the matter. I think it was the same person that did the 'Paddle Shifted 240sx'. Should be easy to find. good read!

turns out it was the knock sensor the whole time.. . pretty damn easy to change if you ask me.. everyone is making a big hype about it but it was easier then changing my oil. all i used was a 1 foot extension, 12mm socket and a grabby claw thing....
