I think with a good transmission cooler and good transmission fluid the stock units are good for some pretty rough abuse. So it's really up to you whether you want an auto or manual. You can always add a ratchet shifter later

you know i was looking at those shifters, and the instructions, is it possible to use one on my auto? that would be awesome....would you haapen to know anyone running one on a stock re401a( or what ever the transmission code is)
