This has been all over our local news the past few days. Most of the local reporters are laughing because our weather is so nice right now and most people from the NE give us s*** about our heat, which we don't have to shovel, BTW. :chuckle: I was just wondering how you guys are doing at this point and wondering if you would keep us updated. All joking aside, I hope you guys stay safe. 3 feet of snow is nothing to joke about and nothing I've ever seen except in snowdrifts. I also hope people heeded the warnings and stocked up on supplies and intend on staying off the roads.

Pictures would be awesome.

"In Massachusetts, Gov.Deval Patrick took the unusual step of ordering all vehicles off all roads, not just state roads, by 4 p.m. Friday, well before the brunt of the storm had hit. Violators could face up to a year in prison and a fine, though exceptions were made for emergency workers, members of the news media and anyone with a snowplow."

Sure they can, and it's not the first time they've done it either. Normally they'll just tow your car/give you a citation if you get stuck during a state of emergency and impede clean up/prep operations. You gotta really screw up noticeably to get arrested.

State College was supposedly in the 1-4" range, but we barely got flurries over the past day. Nothing to even make driving the 240 exciting. Sounds like Bawstin got about two feet so far.

i'd take your dry heat over our s*** humidity any day of the week. tyler can attest to that, as can you bex, you've experienced both.

on to the snow. i gave up shoveling yesterday around 130 and drank beer instead. every house in my neighborhood has multiple cars in their respective driveways, you just can't see them. there is no difference between yard and street, just snow, and it's still coming down atm.

related story, my mom texted me on wednesday:
mom: where up north would you like to visit?
me: north pole
fast forward to this morning
mom: son, how do you like the north pole?
me: i thought there would be more elves

as far as the closed highway thing, our highways were closed for the hurricane. i was supposed to work at the power plant that day and we were told that we could show our badges to any cops that stopped us and they had to let us continue on our way. i was really excited about doing just that, but they told us not to show up and stay home.

i'm off to shovel until my back doesn't work anymore. i'll post up some pics later.

yep a lot of the states in the northeast do that. I think the fine in massatwoshits is $500, or the year in the county lockup, but it keeps the brodozers off the road. I think we got up to 10 inches here in the city, ill take pics when I go dig out the LS later

We got about 2ft of snow.

4 men + 3 shovels + 1 snow blower = 2.5 hours of moving walls of snow.

Thats all it seems like. In flat areas anyways. I think the fact that its windy made some areas have "more snow" the road I live on was cleaned good but other backroads were still covered and still are. At least they finally let people drive again, tho I don't think dumb people should be out even tho no matter what they're out.

Im surprised that the sidewalks and roads are clear in that pic. During Snowmageddon 2 years ago, even the main roads were snowpacked for days and the back roads werent cleared for almost 2 weeks. As far as giving citations, I agree. It makes the people that drive snowplows and emergency vehicles do there jobs without Beamer drivers thinking they can get by, doing nothing but getting stuck in the middle of the roads. Its also safer for others on the road as well as their own lives.

And btw the record for most snowfall in 24hrs is now set at 14.9" from this storm. I wish it was a good 300mi south and 100mi east.

Thanks for thinking about us all!
We got ~30 inches at my house, which is about 35 minutes south of Boston. Instead of hanging around and losing power and heat, I decided to take advantage of the massive amount of snow and go skiing in Maine. 18 inches there made for a fantastic weekend. I'll post up some photos a little bit later today when I'm out of work.

Spoiler, we're going to play a game called "Find the Miata" later on.

Your thread is about the east coast blizzard but Northern AZ is getting freezing temps and heavy snow too. Flagstaff had 36" of snow in the past 72 hours

I We spent the day in Flagstaff yesterday the high was 20 and it snowed the entire way home until Prescott.

Our new Sequoia is four wheel drive and has a lockable center diff. It spent most of the drive home going 20-40 mph in 4hi with the diff locked. Visability was at times less then 50 feet due to the snow fall.

I heard on the news today Flagstaff was 0 degrees at about 9am this morning and it was still snowing.

I know it sounds crazy, but I WISH it would snow here. And get cold. We're going into the second year of a drought. I have never seen all the ponds so low/empty like they are now.

Not sure where you are in Maine but Bangor had a high today of 38 and a low of 20. Flagstaff AZ about 2.5 hours north of Phoenix had a high of 34 and this morning at 8:30 am it was still negative 8. Enjoy your warm weather :gapteeth:

We're all sorts of flooded here in MS. Come take our water, please. I'm thinking about buying a damn snorkel for my 240.

almost 10 hours. my buddy and i estimated the average between 2 and 3 feet (between low spots and snow drifts). spent all day sunday helping my old man finish digging out his driveway, helping my cousin dig out his car that got stuck down the street and buried by the plows, and getting my friend and his gf out of his house since his street was one of the last in the area to get plowed. what did i get out of all this? muscle relaxers are awesome.

Damn, it snows so bad over there that shoveling snow becomes a community affair.

So, buying a snowblower this summer?
