Anyone running Falken tires?

I'm looking at the ZE-512 in 235/45/17 size. I can get 4 from Discount Tire for $348 + mounting and road hazard.

I don't really care about noise or ride, I only care about dry traction and handling.

Thanks,

Jeff

Yeah,

I just bought a set for my G. They are 912 not 512. They are asymmetric. So far so good. I've got them 2 weeks ago. Had a chance to drive it dry and wet too. Handle pretty good. It is a hair noisier then the original tires were. I paid CAD$ 640 with installation and tax.

I had Falken F451 GRB's and now I have F452's GRB's. Size is 255 19 40 front and back

The 452's are pretty freaking sweet, stick to the road like glue in the dry, pretty good in the wet too.

Have them on my daughters's Max...not sure what model, but they are LOUD..... But, sounds like you knew this. They seem to handle fine, however, I haven't pushed her Max.

Cool thanks for all the replies! I rotated my Goodyear RS-A's and the rears were about on the wear bar. The fronts had about 4/32 left so did front to rear and crossed the rears when I brought them up front.

I was originally thinking Avon M500's from tirerack but discount is trying to get rid of the 512's to make room for the new 912's.

I'm looking at out the door with warranties for $462.24.

Thanks,

Jeff

The RS-A's on my wife's car has 5-6/32 on the front and 4/32 on the rear.I'll be changing her's soon to yoko avids. I change mine at 4/32.More likely to hydroplane the lower you go. However, we are REALLY behind in our rainfall....restrictions against washing your cars!

Oh, how many miles did you get out of those RS-A's?Wife has only 18K on hers

An Excellent Idea!!!

I have posted links to videos about this issue before ... albeit in the M45 forum. I will see if I can find that and link it in here.

EDIT: Here is the link zerothread/211702 to that thread.

RS-A's are quiet and do last a long time, but the tire is mediocre performing (and that is a compliment). The braking, dry handling handling and wet weather characteristics are pathetic.

I have not used the Avon M500 yet, but am thinking about it. The Ziex 512 is a good tire in wet, and handles quite well, but noisier than your RS-A's on the road.

Regardless, I would definitely remove those RS-A's - they are mediocre tires at best.

I beleive 235/50/17 would be a better choice in size refer to the tire size calculator and make an informed desition, about Falken tires it seems you have good info in them, good luck!

I was about to get Falkens until I realize that the G has camber/feathering/cupping issues. So, I am now thinking about the Neo Gen by Nitto.

The Neo Gen is an all-season ultra high-performance radial specifically engineered for lowered vehicles. Because the inner shoulder is one continuous block, the tread maintains stability on lowered vehicles with higher degrees of negative camber. This stability reduces tread flex and allows the tire to wear evenly. The result is a tire that prolongs performance on lowered vehicles.Performance Rating: V W UTQG Treadwear: 280 Traction: AA Temperature: A

That's the reason why I have a new set of tire right now.

Good video, thanks

NITTO makes a great tire for sure! I ran Nitto 555 R's drag radials on my ram for a while (275/40/17).

I'm hoping to have the effects of taller gears by adding shorter tires.

My Ram came with 245/70/17s, I went to 285/60/18's then down to 295/45/18's that tire size calculator is good information but a guide not a rule.

My Goodyear RS-A's have almost 18k miles on them. I am embarrased by the RS-A's performance. They don't do anything well (dry/wet traction, handling, comfort, noise). We don't really get too much rain in Phoenix. I always run my tires down to the wear bars.

has anyone here tried the relatively new goodyear eagle response edge tires? just wondering...i suspect they might be similar to the RSA but provide much longer tread life and less road noise.

anyone...?

Hey ZozoWhere did you pick up your tires? I think I may have paid considerably more??I purchased the Falkens a few months back... quite like them although a fraction louder.

It was on sale at the Ontario Automarket and Tires in Kitchener. Little place but they are busy all the time. You can make a deal with them. If you want more info I can get it for you. They did a good job. I was kind of affraid because of the tire sensors but no issue what so ever.

I would go to tirerack.com and get the tires. Great Customer service and great prices. They even have local shops that will mount the tires to your car. I didn't buy the road hazard for the tires and i hit a curb with a tire that was only like 4 weeks old and they sent me a new tire for half the price!!!! I will be buying General Exclaims for my G35. I have the 18's on the sport sedan and will be putting 245 45 ZR 18 tires. I have 245 40 Zr 18 by BF Goodrich. Really nice tire but don't have the tread life the Exclaims have and i am going a little taller for the ride and for a little bit better MPG. I had the Exclaims on my Is300 and they were really quite, had great dry traction, in the rain you could drive like it wasn't raining, they never hydroplained, They are the #1 rated tire on the web site, very inexpensive... the size i listed above only cost 117 bux a tire, if you get the same size for the 17's i think it is like 89 or 92 bux a tire! The best part is they put on a really good smoke show!!!

I only use tirerack for checking out tires or read review or compare different names. For me also the shipping would be a furtune. I do agree they have a good costumer service. I emailed them several times and there was fast response with valueable info.

check out this one too

Hello gwoods,I am using ziex ze-912 tires on my toyota RAV4.Falken tires are good and they are working well. With the ZIEX ZE912, Falken has developed a tire with full-depth sipes encircling the tread, coupled with high-volume circumferential grooves and high angle variable cross grooves, that bring together the spirit of performance driving in all climates. Before puchasing these tires I have seen http://www.falkentiresreviews.com.They have given nice description about it you can check it out. When faced with wet conditions, the ZIEX ZE912 features increased hydroplane resistance and increased tread stability by evacuating water away, delivering improved grip composure, while its hybrid-asymmetric pattern produces better dry performance and genuine touring confidence during each and every season. The result is a tire that performs regardless of the condition of the road.
Image
1)Hybrid-Asymmetric Pattern Design – Optimized inside and outside tread patterns to ensure all-season grip on demand.
2)Infinite Sipe Sequence – Full-depth sipes throughout the entire tread platform creating biting edges that dramatically increase traction in all seasons.
3)Rotation Wear Indicators (RWI) – Falken engineered visual cues that help the driver maximize tire life and overall tire value, prompting regular tire maintenance.
4)Four High-Volume Circumferential Grooves – Designed to deliver increased hydroplane resistance and maximum stability in wet conditions.
5)High Angle Variable Cross Grooves – In inclement weather conditions, these grooves effectively evacuate water away from the contact patch.

Thank you
