I just bought a new 2011 Crimson Black 3.5SR Altima coupe and wanted input on spoilers. All cars I've owned for the last 20 years have had a spoiler on it. This may be the first car that I may prefer not to have a spoiler. Generally, I think spoilers add aggressive looks and more sportiness. My last car was a 2005 Mazda Shinka RX-8 and they looked so much better with a spoiler. With the Altima coupe I actually think I like it without one. It's got such a clean look at the rear end that I think it looks sportier WITHOUT the spoiler. Am I wrong? If you look at the trend of supercars such as the Jag, Aston Martin, even Koenisegg, the spoiler is hidden until you reach a certain speed. Obviously on the Altima it is only for looks, which I never minded paying for on cars in the past. I just think the flow on the coupe is actually better without it. I'd like to hear from both sides of the issue on this; so, either tell me I'm way off or that you agree.

I think the spoilers give the coupes a more aggressive and sporty look. I am not sure what the new 2011 rear spoilers look like but their are many different options to choose from when it comes to spoilers. In my opinion I prefer having a spoiler over not having one. Here is a link to most of the choices you have:

After I bought mine I had to put a spoiler on it. Now I almost miss it being naked. In pictures they look good without spoilers but in person they seem to be missing something. I have the Nissan-Canada Factory Spoiler, so it's smaller than the one offered now. I don't know why it was only offered as an accessory in Canada and not the US.

Just today I noticed an Infiniti G37 and they look great with a spoiler. For whatever reason, on what is basically the same car, the Altima's FACTORY/dealer-installed spoiler just doesn't seem to add much to its styling and may actually detract. Like I said in the OP, I just bought the car so I might be swayed and end up installing it, but I'm looking for reasons to justify the cost (or reasons to confirm this detraction).

After browsing the many threads I've seen photos of people that put the Infiniti wing on it, so that may explain why I liked the G37 spoiler so much. Maybe that's what I need is an Infiniti wing on my Altima. So, where did you get it?

The Stillen lip gives it a more clean/unique look in the rear. G spoiler looks a bit whack and out of place IMO....not to trash on those who have it. To each his own ;)

I got it off of ebay for about 90 bucks unpainted. I couldnt tell you how much it is to paint it, my shop does it free

Yeah, Ricko. I've been researching different spoiler looks and I think I'm back to no spoiler. I believe I'm going to invest in a hidden improvement instead, aka, upgraded rear sway bar. Racingline seems to have a good one.

I've always liked my car without a spoiler. I'm never gonna put one on. But I have seen a few that do look clean on them. Just not my style I guess. Just my .02
