I had them, and now I dont. Apparently they are in the fsm somewhere, but I keep reading through it and coming up with nothing. maybe I'm dumb? who knows. Anyway, if anyone knows them and wants to help me out, I'll be able to drive my car as soon as I get them.

ok, its on EF & EC 183 for future reference. anyone know the bias resistor value? does this even apply? i highly doubt theres any resistor in my harness...

Wow tim your such an idiot some times, I TOLD you 20 times on aim YOU DONT CHANGE BIAS RESISTOR BECAUSE ITS BUILT INTO THE BOARD. All you do is just change resistor value and temps.

heres my threadhttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=225343

sweet action. i never really got to check it though as i have somehow managed to incorrectly wire up the fuel pump. on the bright side, nothing caught fire when i first hooked it all up!

oh, one other thing, for some reason msII doesnt want to save the values i put in the "calibrate thermistor table." when i write it, it goes through all the stuff and then it still reads off and jumps back to the original settings.

edit: i am really dumb though...

Ok, ive got everything together but she wont start. too much fuel or not enough air. it doesnt fire, it just backfires every few seconds and then chokes. crank crank crank crank backfire choke crank crank. thats all i get. any suggestions? im gonna go back and mess with it now, but i figured i would ask.

For the Fuel all you had to do was take the MS fuel pump wire and extend it to the Black/Pink wire at a 8 Pin brown plug near the passenger fender and battery section. Heres a pic.

As for the values in Megatune it will show the GM specs BUT the values get saved into the Megasquirt memory, so if it goes through the whole list thing where it creates like 1000 files or whatever than you know its good. A way to check if its installed correctly is go to your project folder and you should find a txt file called thermosistor.txt I believe.

Probably too much fuel, check your cranking/start up configuration. Dont forget my map was for 370cc and a GT28R. Check you have the spark plug wires connected properly to the right towers.

Post pics of your Trigger Wheel at TDC 2nd mark from the left. Check that the VR sensor wires go positive to positive and negative to negative on the EDIS module.

Also hook the laptop up start Megatune give MS power via the key, check the bottom of MegaTune, then start Cranking it if it says cranking than you have switched power hooked up. I had a issue first time cranking it up where MS didnt get power while cranking.

well, i thought i might have wired the vr sensor backwards, as i read it created a similar problem, but it doesnt seem to be the case. i pulled the plugs and they were very dry. strange because now i have the fuel pump wired correctly and ive got plenty of fuel pressure. i guess the injectors arent being fired? i just wired them directly so i dont see how i could have messed it up. they use a common power and ms2 completes the circuit by switching the ground right? i know we have gone over this before... strange part is that its backfiring, so theres got to be some fuel or something, otherwise i wouldnt get that right?

start pulling out the test light and multimeter.

Show me a pic of the trigger wheel I wanna make sure you got that set right, knowing you tend to do retarded things.

ill get pictures up here in a few. apparently its not sparking OR injecting fuel. i can hook up the stim and all the lights blink as they should, so i dont think its the box, just my shoddy wiring.

ok, ive got spark and fuel, but it still will not start. sounds better though! its just backfiring and sputtering. im thinking the timing is out a whole lot, like 180 degrees or close to it. what should my trigger offset be? -10 or 10? is there anything i may have overlooked timing wise?

Any chance the cam timing is off? It kinda sounds like you're off a tooth.

alright, it wants to start but its not starting. it turns over, fires, but it wont quite catch enough to keep running. i had the plug wires around the wrong way (who knew it was different for the ca?) and it sounds much better now, but still no dice. when i crank it i get a 26-27 in the trigger advance box (where you set the trigger offset). should i be setting it close to that?

what code are you using, if its the latest code my msq file wont work.

Anyways Tim I take it you dont have a idle hooked up correct? I think that might be part of your problem. When my IACV is acting up sometimes my car wont want to start until I readjust the stupid plug than she fires right up.

you may have a problem where theirs not enough air to keep the motor running during cranking thus why it wants to fire some times but gives up.

when cranking try opening up the throttle to give it some air.

im not using your file, i have made my own. it realy feels like an ignition problem. i will try more air at idle but ive got the tb cracked a good bit so that doesnt seem to be the problem.

ive got the ignition timing at idle set to 15deg btdc, but it gives me 27deg in the trigger advance box when i run the trigger offset thing. is that right? it doesnt sound it..

sounds way off, post a pic of your damn trigger wheel set at 0* TDC, the offset should be, I believe, 10.

Quote »Settings/MegaTune

In MegaTune, set:

Trigger offset = 0° (this will vary, depending on the wheel/pickup configuration), Ignition Input Capture to 'Falling Edge', ('Rising Edge' for MicroSquirt), Cranking Trigger to 'Calculated', Coil Charging Scheme to 'EDIS', Spark Output to 'Going High (Inverted)', ('Going High (Inverted)' for MicroSquirt). Set the predictor algorithm option to 'last interval'.

DO NOT set the missing tooth settings - the EDIS module takes care of the 36-1 wheel - MegaSquirt-II sees it as a regular distributor.

ok, got it sorted out. crappy connection with a crappy crimp connector FTL. still doesnt run properly, but itll start up. its running way lean at idle, my afr's were around 15.9-16.0:1 and it doesnt want to stay running. nothing a good bit of messing with fuel parameters wont fix. also, my msII isnt reading in a proper singnal from my afx. is there some sort of calibration program i can run? its trying to read 0-5v as 8-19:1, when my wideband only reads from 9-16:1.

on second thought, any way you want to have a look through my .msq file and see if you can sort it out? ive tried messing with req. fuel and pulse width and stuff, but she still doesnt want to run.

it wont stay running unless you work the throttle, and after a while it races off to about 4200rpm. i dont understand how it can rev so high with the throttle plate closed. ive just pressure tested my intake and theres no leaks to be found, so its not pulling air from anywhere. i keep posting on the msefi forums and no one wants to help...

youd be surprised, I had the hole behind the throttle body accidently open up and my idle went up to 3800 rpms so its possible.

i had some values for my map sensor set incorrectly, so the msII was not seeing proper barometric pressure. im not running the stocker.

anyway, it idles rock solid and starts instantly, which is good. unfortunately it coughs and chokes when i try and rev it up. im seeing really high afr's at idle still (~16:1), which seem to go down when i rev it up (~15:1). any ideas whats wrong? if i add much more fuel at idle it runs like crap.

check for exhaust leaks before the 02 sensor.
