First, a few pictures of the rust and the pinstripes. : )
Now, on to the air box. : )
I have been questioned as to, What IS the factory Air Box, where is the factory airbox, what is the y-pipe, and where do I find the MAFs. Heres a little pictoral rendition about the factory airbox.
Here we have my engine
Now that we have that squared away, here is the beginning of the intake track of the KA24E.
The three components that everyone asks about are ther Air Box, the MAFs, and the Y-Pipe. As seen above, they're all handily located right next to each other.
Disassembly to change your own filter element is easy. It can all be done in two simple steps. First, locate the four little clips around the edge of the airbox, as seen here.
There are four, unclip them. Next, you need to remove this hose. I suggest slightly loosening the screw, although you can just pull it off.
Voila, now your airbox is open, now you can get out your filter element.
Yay for the filter element, heres the inside of the airbox without the element. The elemnt seals between each half of the box, the bottom half is the uncleaned air, while the top half is the filtered air that is about to be metered by the MAFs, as is partially shown there.
