FWIW, I have an RS*R ExMag GTII, and every event I do I have at least 3 people coming up to me and asking which exhaust I run b/c they think it sounds awesome. No exaggeration. Wish I had a sound clip for you.

My ApexI N1 has rusted. One of the hangers even rusted off, so I had a muffler shop reweld and reinforce my exhaust hangers. You get non stainless if your cheap or dont really care about how long the exhaust lasts. Though it also depends on climate.

hey mynismo,

is there a valve already on the stock piping of the sr20det? do i need the flange and pipe and all that or do i just need the flange adapter for my specific BOV?? i think it's the latter of the two, but i want your opinion

just to add... i have the Blitz LM series intercooler kit...does that have a hotpipe?

also, how much HP did yu gain with the exhaust? do you know? do you get more HP with the bigger diameter piping? in other words, larger piping=more HP?? or is that not true? does it just depend on the exhaust? how straight it is and how it is built?

thanks mynismo

not sure if blitz has the hotpipe

on a turbo car, typically a bigger exhaust will give you more hp. you may lose tq. depends on the car and exhaust.

the gt spec is fairly straight. tanabe is straighter... usually the more they slant the straighter they are. a yashio exhaust is basically a straight line and it comes out at an extreme angle.

all major exhausts are manufactured from very good companies in jdm-land. they are all well made and will hold up better than any custom mild steel one will.

also i have a stock ka24e on my 89, na of course. can i got a gt spec with smaller piping, say 85mm instead of 95mm, that way i could use the same exhaust after i go turbo? or should i just get smaller piping now and then get 95mm or similar later after i go turbo?

The whole point of the GT Spec exhaust is that ApexI has one of the only 95mm mandrel pipe benders in Japan. If you want a smaller diameter stainless steel then get something like the Blitz Nur Spec Racing, its only 80mm.

alright thanks someone told me you could get gt spec in 85mm, but i didnt think they knew what they were sayin, just wanted to make sure because i couldnt find pipe diameters on the apexi website. i was actually planning on getting something like the 80mm nurspec, thanks for the confirmation.

do you have a sound bite of the exmag?
No, sorry. My friend has one on his rsx type s and it sounds almost stock at idle. When it hits VTEC (whatever when it starts making more power) it sounds incredible. It sounds mean. It also looks stock. The muffler is painted black, but with a chrome tip. I'm surprised I don't see more people praising this exhaust. Maybe they've never had an experience with it. To me, there are like 4 choices: you can make your own, get a single can knockoff like megan racing (really loud, doesn't sound good, just loud), get a real single can exhaust like n1, evo, hipower (i recommend w/ a gutted cat), or rs*r exmag. Like I said before, I would now definitely only consider running exmag or hipower (or alternative, but brand name for sure) w/ a gutted cat.

Response is long and such, but I speak from experience.

I'm running an HKS hipower and I love it. It's not too much louder than stock at idle and cruising. It also comes in 2 different sizes, 65mm and 85mm. very well fit exhaust and have had no problems with it for almost 1.5 years. I just like that n1 style and it was only $500 shipped to cali from enjuku.
