there are, and people will flame me for saying it, but its impossible to NOT have performance loss when you split a pipe, period. Ballanced performance, singal, and other shops will back me up on this, the smoother the pipe(less bends), and the striaghter it is, the better for turbo applications. in turbo form, backpressure IS NOT a issue(well...to a point).

go for the single N-1. its expensive to ship it, sure, but I love mine, and have never heard a bad thing about them. jeff at ballanced performance uses a dual because he build his up N/A, so the backpressure is more acceptable.

This is a tough decision. Anyone have any dynos? I wanna know if I will lose low end torque w/ the Single, but i'm getting mixed opinions about pipe size. I'm deciding between the HKS hiper and the N1 single.

I'm pretty sure I'm going with the n1 single w/ 75mm piping.

i'll be buying from phase2motortrend unless someone knows of a place with a better price.

I say get the hiper. The sound is awesome, and not overly loud. I have the hiper and it is kinda loud when it gets hot. If it were any louder, it would be too anoying imo. N1 is loader i hear.

i know that 2 1/2 inches is perfect for NA applications, which is why i went with the Hiper. i wanted the N1 single for a long time, but did some more research, and decided on the Hiper because of smaller piping, better for me (NA for a long time). 2 1/2 inches i think is 65mm?? i know 2 3/4 inches is getting good for turbo, and 3 inches is probably the best. you can use 2 1/2 and be fine, just not as much so as you would w/ a 3 inch pipe, N1 single turbo application. you can get the N1 single in the NA form, but it is still 2 3/4 inch piping, which is to big for me. you loose to much low end. w/ 2 1/2, i don't loose TO much low end, and have optimum high range power. I am putting my Hiper on tomorrow. i will post and let everyone know the gains i get, and how it sounds.

I think 65 mm is 2-3/4, not 2.5

Double check this but i'm pretty sure 60 is 2.5, 65 is 2.75, and 70 is 3 inch.

Hiper sounds better and better, and the whole shipping thing sucks. How much was shipping for you, it should be a little less for me. Let me know how it is when you get it on.

Forgive me if I seem ignoranat for I do not know that much about the KA. I only know that the muffler for the CA and SR is differnet. It is also differnt as far as the size goes when it comes to restrictions for NA and Turbo wouldn't it be better to save your money until after you swap your engine to an SR, Just a suggestion. Then you could get a good front pipe and high flow cat (Or Test Pipe).

Hmmm... well, that is a great suggestion, or would be, if one knew one was going to swap the sr engine for the ka. But if one is not sure which way to go but needs an exhaust either way it makes it tough ;)

And there is a middle ground between ka and sr... 60-80 mm is reccommended for sr, and 65-70 works well on ka according to people with the hiper and n1 exhausts. Just trying to decide which is the closest to the middle.

But I bet if you looked hard enough you could find out for yourself.

If they did mention fwhp they most likely meant flywheel horsepower. Since this is a forum for a rear wheel drive car front wheel horsepower wouldn't really apply.

But you already knew that, right?
