I was doing some upgrading on my '93 Q and procured 4 new idler pulley bearings from Texasoil. I had my local shop install these since they had a nice bearing press. My mechanic said he could only find 3 idler bearings to replace. In the Forum I found that the PS idler requires 2 bearings - hence the 4th.

To save us some time looking, when I go back to my mechanic with this 4th bearing to install, where do I describe that it goes?

Thanks, Jim in North Carolina

back to back inside the same pulley wheel.is your car a touring or an active (as opposed to std)? not sure, but the std may only have 1 bearing on the ps pulley (narrower belt/pulley).

The Power Steering belt tensioner has two bearings....back to back.Note: I remember seeing a post from another NICO member that even had photographs showing how the bearings go in all the pulleys...You may want to Search for it.

There's a lot of information available on this subject - this is an example: zerothread?id=192888

Simply Search....

why replace the bearings when you can just replace the entire pulley? and the new pulley comes with new adjusting screws.

i replaced all my idler pulleys, including an alternator pulley bracket for less than $100. all parts from infiniti scottsdale.

i know you've already replaced your bearings, but this is for anyone else needing idler pulley repair.

Aren't new pulleys, with bearing installed, about $100/ea from IOS? The math doesn't jive.
