anyone that comes to me for advice is easily tolerated and i'll do anything i can to help or send them to someone who is more knowledgeable on the subject at hand... anyone that thinks they are schumacher on their first day would be more likely to have my torque wrench rammed up their a** than anything

Ouch, that can be painful. :chuckle: Actually, the type of student that worries me more than an ihflated ego is one in a powerful car with ADD, who forgot to take his medicine. Happened to me once. Those were exhausting sessions. A 30 minute session felt like 4 hours.

Not anything like this guy, who had trouble staying focused for more than one turn. There's nothing more disconcerting than a student changing the subject at 120 mph approaching the braking zone to RollerCoaster at VIR.

(I do get distracted easily, but not when driving..unless it's something that's affecting my driving..i.e. someone who can't shut the hell up)

High Performance Driver Education.

We're talking about very few people that behave that way at track events. A good friend of mine who instructs for the Ferrari Club said it's more common at Ferrari events than at most other clubs. Though the vast majority of Ferrari owners are fine. If you're a patient instructor, that kind of student is not a big deal. Just makes for fun stories later on.
god those guys are the worst

i remember about 4 years ago i was doing a DE3 class at PIR here in phoenix. this douche shows up in a BRAND NEW 355 challenge, wearing his ferrari leather jacket, hat, gloves, shoes and probably underwear to drive in DE1. Im unloading my car from the trailer after showing up late because s***, im a group director, i can do whatever i want. I hear the ferrari coming down the front stretch and he goes to brake into turn 1.

he makes the rookie mistake of braking while turning into a corner, which is amplified because its a banked corner with a transition from bank to flat surface. so he spins it, and goes through the grass.

he is carrying so much speed he comes out of the grass and continues to spin to the outside wall coming to stop about 6 inches from it.

he didnt go back on track that day and probably had to change his $200 underwear. I felt bad for the instructor in the car with him. the collective a** puckering of the driver and instructor is probably the only thing that kept the car off the wall haha
