When I slow down in the traffic light, my 240sx will stall sometimes. What happens is when I press the clutch, the rpm drops almost to zero and will stall sometimes (not necessary time). I can save it by remove the clutch pedal so it will gain the rpm back a little back.

It only happens when I slow donw. The idle rpm works fine when the car is not moving. I don't know which part is wrong in my 240sx so please me some hints.

please me your setup.

I have no clue what's been done to this car, which makes narrowing down the issue a hassle. Is the car stock? Do you have a different motor swapped in? Do you have a turbo setup with an atmo venting BOV?

One thing I didn't mention before. If I remove the pedal and let it slow down by itself, the engine won't stall. However, if I press the clutch to shift to N, the times when I press the clutch, the rpm will drop very quick and then the engine stall. So it can actually happen also when the car is running and the clutch is pressed long enough to let the rpm drop till it stall. But it usually doesn't happen b/c the times to shift the gear is shorter then the times it drops the rpm to zero.

Im having almost the same problem. My RPMs dip to about 700-800 when I clutch in to slow down or downshift.

Anyone found out anything or have any other ideas?

You know, I just realized the main reason I feel it like I do is because of my urethane mounts. What it does is drop to 700-800, then bounces off of it and raises back up.

Is it supposed to drop like that, but the reason I notice it is only because of the mounts?

yeah i got the same problem... mine hasn't stalled out completely. when i push in the clutch my rpms will go to about 300-400 and sounds like it going to stall (similar to a new driver when they don't give it enough gas). i have changed my distributor, rotor, plugs and wires

hey guys that are having the problem. if you leave you car in 5th and push the clutch in till you stop does it get stuck in the gear?

Check and clean the MAFS, IACV, and make sure all the vacuum lines are connected, tight, and have no cracks or leaks.

Same thing was happening to me on my S13. I took it to the mechanic, got a diagnostics test done and it turns out I need to replace my idle air control valve.

Bah...I hope not. Can it be changed without taking off the intake manifold?

I think mine got wet when I took off the intake manifold and cleaned it...well, Im pretty sure it did.
