Engine light and airbag on, how do i reset those.

Hey guys im new here and this site really helped alot when i had problems with my car and now i have 2 problems.My engine light came on after i got a new map sensor and my airbag light is on. How do i reset those or get them to turn off. I have no money.If someone says to hit this button 8 times, what button are you talking about and how do i find it on a 95 240sx?

connect a OBDII scanner and clear the codes... then recheck to see if there isn't any hard code...

scanner will clear the codes... theres no button to turn them off...

as for the airbag... i couldn't tell you... you gotta check the circuit... if you dig through this site... you'll find airbag diagnostic charts or diagrams...

thanks, but theres no obd2 scanner at my school and i dont have money to get one. Is there any other way to check it?

If the MAP was really the cause of the problem, the MIL should turn off after 3 drives. As long as the problem does not occur again. But your best bet is to plug in a scanner.

It should have gone off, i drove it this whole week since it came on last sunday. I have to drive more than that for my car, dont know why. And i asked my professor if i can use a scan tool, and i did the system came out fine, but the light wont go off.

IIRC The procedure to turn off the airbag light is, open the drivers door, turn the key to the on position, depress the drivers door ajar switch 7 times, then cycle the key off then on.

It may be 6 times, i dont remember for sure, check the FSM.

wheres the door ajar switch on the drivers door?Do i have to take off the door to do that?

when i first got my S14 my CEL and airbag light where on. i cleaned all the ground wires in the engine bay and the battery terminals and they went away. basically check your grounds. hope this helps

Most of the 95 didn't come OBD2 they were OBD1.

Good news guys, i hooked the schools obd2/obd1 scan tool to my car and everything is off, the problem is a knock sensor, but in gunna go back to the scan tool since the airbag light came on after the negative terminal connnecter came undone.Thanks guys for your help.
