never heard one that sounds like metal on metal before.

So I checked the mechanical timing the way Darius recommended and everything is lined up perfect.

Also cranked the engine with the coils unplugged and pulled the spark plugs like Joe said. The plugs weren't really "wet", but I could see moisture and they smelled like gas. I also checked the plugs on the working cylinders and they looked the same. I'm going to spin the CAS with the ignition "on" and listen to the injectors tonight.

Something I just thought of.....how do I check to make sure the cylinders are getting air? Given that each cylinder has it's own throttle body, this could definitely be a variable.

I know I'm getting spark
I'm almost positive I'm getting fuel
I just can't comprehend how those 2 cylinders aren't firing

how did you check for spark?

I pulled out the spark plugs and plugged em into the coilpacks and ran a ground to them(wrapped around the threaded part of the plug) one at a time, then cranked the engine with the fuel pump disconnected. I could physically see the plugs spark.

So I pulled the CAS and spun it with the fuel pump/coilpacks disconnected, I could hear each injector click. I also swapped the number 1 and number 6 injector around, same problem with the last 2 cylinders.

At this point I'm pretty convinced it's getting fuel and spark. Only other thing I can think of is air.

With the ITB setup, the throttles are in pairs.

So I'm wondering if the last 2 cylinders aren't getting enough, if any, air. I'm gonna try playing with the throttle adjustments to see if that does anything. Then when I get the car running on all 6, pretty sure I have to use vacuum gauges to fine tune like this:

Thoughts??

Cars running on all 6.....kinda...

I hooked up a set of vacuum gauges like in the above video. Right now, only the first 2 throttle bodies are showing vacuum, so I still have a bit of adjusting to do. At least now when I unplug the coilpack on cylinder 5 or 6, It makes a difference in the Idle/engine sound.

After I get the throttles all sync'd up I'll figure out whats going on with the timing. Then I still gotta figure out where the metal flakes are coming from and see how much damage I did :frown:

Oh well, one problem at a time..
