All

We just bought a 2003 Max GLE, 116K on clock, (now a 117K). It was a local trade in at a nearby dealer. My daughter was driving it a couple of weeks ago and on decel the engine just out of the blue, died. It started back up (on about the 2nd or third crank), she drove it home. No check engine light, I checked for any pending codes (my own reader), and found nothing. Fast forward two weeks, I was driving in the neighboorhood, comming to a stop sign when suddenly, engine died. Started back up (2nd cranK), check engine light was on and the code P0345 camshaft position sensor was the only code that was set.

Could a bad camshaft position sensor cause the engine to die? I was going to run back to the dealer to see what they would do, if anything.

Thanks in advance

Camshaft sensor problem will definitely cause engine stall. Refer to the link below for additional info as well a link to the FSM.

Seems a common problem with the Maxima. I believe my '02 sensor was replaced due to a recall.....it's been so long I don't remember fully.
