Pulled a P0345 code on 02 Maxima. Replaced the camshaft position sensor for bank 2 (I believe. Replaced the sensor that is closest to the front and furthest from the firewall.) Car driving much better - no stalling or engine not starting. But CEL is still on and still throwing the same P0345 code. Your thoughts? Thanks in advance from a first time poster.

You replaced the right sensor. P0345 is for CPS-PHASE, Bank 2. You may have a problem with the harness or connector. Did you clean the connector before installation. You may also have a problem with the starting circuit. Check the battery connections are clean and tight and battery voltage is > 12.5 VDC.

Refer to page EC-337 in the attached link - http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/maxima/2002/EC.pdf

Thanks loystock. Very helpful. No I did not clean the connector. Any recommendations on how to do so/what to use for cleaning? Also, can you post the "SC" section of the FSM so I can check the starting circuit or do you have any recommendations on how to check? Many thanks!

Sometimes it can take a few starts or a little while of driving for sensor codes to reset. Sometimes the code will show up (on a detailed enough scanner) as "pending" which means the problem that initially caused the code has been resolved, but for not long enough that the car has decided to wipe the code completely.

Thanks Minister. I did erase the code with my code reader. That should eliminate the scenario you describe where a pending code is still present or the CEL is on, correct??

Every time I disconnect a connector, I clean it with Contact Cleaner and then apply Dielectric Grease before installation. As for the FSM, all you have to do is delete the "EC.pdf" from the URL and it should connect you to the 2002 FSM, as I have done below. Then you have access to all the chapters in the FSM.
