Uhh, do you have a cone intake or something? That sounds like hissing at WOT. Does it seem to affect performance?

my intake is an apexi and it's on a stock rubber intake hose. it will his starting at 6psi and get louder as boost builds. it doesn't appear to effect performace at all, at least not yet.

Check the tightness of your turbo to manifold bolts, if they are slightly loose, the gasket will buzz under high pressure. Imangine putting a blade of grass between your thumbs, now blow real hard. Ive had this probem more than once.

So you're saying the sound is something other than the apexi? Is it only at boost? Have you hand twisted the throttle to see if you can replicate the sound, or is it only under boost?

Its has to be the manifold gasket or the gasket inbetween the turbo and the manifold then. That is, if your sure that all of the clamps are tight.

very possible, if it were that though I would describe it more like a helicopter sound though.

When they are only slightly loose, it does not leak all the time, only under load and higher boost, its more of a screech or a whistle, it happens to me every time I pull my turbo, usually around two weeks after.

i'll double check the tightness off the manifold bolts. So pretty much, it's got to be that something with a gasket is loose, i'll get on it and let you guys know later tonight. i really appreciate it guys. thanks.

Around what rpms do you hear the sound? Just curious cuz I'm redoing my mani and exhaust. I've had various sounds that I try to fix. Latest sound was the heli sound due to cracked runner. I also have a sound from somewhere around the tb when I let off the gas, sounds kind of like a vw beetle sound, like a twittering whistle ya know.

it has nothing to do with RPM. the sound only starts when under boost. i can let off at 5000rpm and won't hear it until i build boost. it's totally relies on boost pressure.

Tighten your turbo to manifold bolts. It is a very common problem with the SR, some screech, some do not.

I may be way off but is there a chance that you are hearing the turbo spool and that is why it is only under boost and not when letting off throtle? I understand what they are saying about the gasket but for it to have started right after putting a front mount on it seems to be unlikely. I would check for the bad gaskets but I would go over what you did installing the front mount again just to double check? What brand is the front mount that you have. Do you have any boost problems or is it holdint fine?

ok so i pulled the compressor outlet and checked the gasket and it's pretty worn out. just to make sure i put some high temp silicone gasket maker on with the metal gasket and it ran fine, but since it calls for 24hours to set up it didn't hold and after about an hour it started to leak again, i'm just gonna have to get a new gasket. but sure enough, it's the gasket leaking. thanks for the help guys.
