Slightly better?
The Droid: has a physical keyboard, comes pre-loaded with Android 2.0 (which means it has Google Maps Navigation while the Eris does not), has a dual LED flash, supports twice as much removable memory (including twice as much right out of the box), and has 90 minutes longer talk time.
In fact, the only advantages to the Eris are the longer standby time (but if you're picking one of these phones based solely on the standby time you probably aren't in the target demographic), 32 MB more onboard RAM, a camera that's easier to use (but with no flash and far fewer settings - it only supports brightness and white balance), and built in Outlook Sync (which you can do with the Droid, but I'd personally rather use the Google equivalent on a Google based phone).
The Eris is cheaper and lighter, and fine for a recreational/toy phone but it's really not in the same league as the Droid in a feature for feature comparison.
