Looks better than my dare, hopefully it works better too.

I remember iriver making a stand like that for their media player.

Touchscreens by themselves suck. Full real qwerty and touchscreen for the win.

I disagree...I can type 2-3 times faster on my Storm2 or an Iphone than I can with my brother's LG voyager...

Google Maps runs on any version of Android. All of the software on the Droid can be downloaded by any phone that runs the Android OS, so it's really not that special. It all depends on what you want your phone to look like.
If you saw the video posted above, it showed Google Navigation, not Google Maps, and is a far more advanced program than Google Maps which is only available on Android 2.0.

As to whether you will be able to upgrade your OS to 2.0 to take advantage of it is an open question and likely dependent on the actual phone you're using.

Wireless tether FTW!

My buddy did it on his HTC touch pro 2 and OMG so epic!.

Speed test.net gave him a .77Mb/s DL and a .35 Mb/s UL

I finally caved and ordered the droid along with a new 2 year plan (I was due to renew anyway). Ordered up from Verizon online, only 99.99, they took 100 dollars off the 2 year plan cost because I ordered online. Also got free overnight shipping (with a code), not that it helps because today is Saturday, so I should have this baby by Tuesday. I was also surprised that my bill is only 13 dollars more a month now, even with all the data, internet, and email packages that I was obligated to sign up for.

I love what I am reading so far, you guys and girls on here like your Droids so far?

that's a comparison chart, seems like they are about even, with HTC being slightly better.

edit: actually reading it more, motorola seems slightly better, with bigger display, slightly better processor, 32 bit color, and newer version of android. Saying that though, HTC, is better in a few areas as well.

Two of my friends have the eris. I have the normal droid. I constantly get blank texts from them and all i hear is complaints. They are both switching to the normal droid.

Slightly better?

The Droid: has a physical keyboard, comes pre-loaded with Android 2.0 (which means it has Google Maps Navigation while the Eris does not), has a dual LED flash, supports twice as much removable memory (including twice as much right out of the box), and has 90 minutes longer talk time.

In fact, the only advantages to the Eris are the longer standby time (but if you're picking one of these phones based solely on the standby time you probably aren't in the target demographic), 32 MB more onboard RAM, a camera that's easier to use (but with no flash and far fewer settings - it only supports brightness and white balance), and built in Outlook Sync (which you can do with the Droid, but I'd personally rather use the Google equivalent on a Google based phone).

The Eris is cheaper and lighter, and fine for a recreational/toy phone but it's really not in the same league as the Droid in a feature for feature comparison.

I have the G1. It is flawed and not as sleek as the iPhone or the newer Google phones.

That said, I can send pictures via text (MMS or whatever it's called), have Google's turn by turn, and a whole bunch more.

I'm glad I got it verses the iPhone.

its about time i picked up a Smart phone.

I was pretty dead set on getting a Droid till about 3 weeks ago, when my brother bombarded me with propaganda to get the HTC HD2, he is a die hard HTC fanboy ive always been Sony Ericsson, but SEs latest Smart phones just dont match up to the competition....so.

Droid vs HTC HD2

Im stuck between them, and cant decide.Anyone have reasons to pick one over the other?

Really cool a** phone this Droid is, thank god it came out when it did.

I was really set to get the blackberry storm 2, but yeah that obviously changed.

Yeah for me the Droid was a little hard to use, I had to figure out how to do many easy tasks on the phone. The phone really has a very overwhelming number of features, but I am learning something new every time I pick this bugger up haha.

The HD2 is not an Android phone - its HTC's windows mobile phone. I would take that into consideration.

The Droid is a brick, it's the only thing that has stopped me from getting it.

Maybe this month, but more likely January from what I've read, HTC will release a new Verizon phone the Dragon/Bravo/Passion, with a far faster processor than the Droid, and a sleeker form factor from what I've seen. If you're in the market, I'd wait a month and see how that shapes up.
