I just trade in a 2011 Rogue, it had the insulation pad under the hoo. Bought new 2013 Rogue, NO Pad has all clips but not there. Called salesman said check other not in cars in 2013. Can anyone confirm this or give me some help

I've got a 2012 Black Amethyst Rogue SV with SL package, so it's fully loaded. Mine doesn't have the insulation pad under the hood, and I don't think the 2011 that I traded in did either. It's my understanding that it isn't necessary.

Did a little more research. I had forgotten about this thread. need-help-burnt-hole-under-hood-t537090.html

If you still feel you just have to have one, you can get one from your local dealership. Part Number: 65840-JM00A. Although it's listed for the 2011, it will no doubt fit a 2012. I found it online at this Nissan parts supplier for $212.42 http://www.nissanpartsdiscounts.com/oem ... 5840-jm00a It's item #5 in the drawing, and you'll need the retainer clips (Part Number: 65846-30F00), although I don't know how many you'll need. Probably no more than a dozen @ $1.34 each.

Thanks for the reply. My 2011 Sv I just traded in had the insulation pad, but dealer check two and said no in any car. Guess I will just go on as is, unless decided to visit local salvage yard and pick up one from 2011

Thanks again

you dont need it. its meant to smother a fire, if there ever is one. i can tell you this as a fireman: they dont work. lol and to those that claim its so the hood doesnt get so much heat from the engine, i say this: have you tried touching the hood or roof on a summer day? 150-170 degrees on a hot summer day.

I think the most they probably do is deaden some of the engine noise

not at all. this is on the hood itself. its meant to drop down after the plastic pins melt off due to a fire, and attempt to smother it out. it also helps with absorbing some heat from the header during very-very hot summer days in stand still traffic.

Right... I just always thought of it as doubling as sound insulation as well since it is a layer of insulation that the engine clatter has to pass through to get to the hood, and ultimately out of the engine bay.

sound travels through the firewall. its got all the holes where sound sneaks through.

if your theory was correct, it would have to travel through the windows in order to get to you. firewall is much easier.

Just wondering, does it keep engine warm during winter? :chuckle:
