Heh I had to log in just to thank you for this write-up.

Great Contribution. Oh and if you can't understand what's going on just by looking at the pictures, get under your car, it will make sense.

babz, you can d/l the Free FSM for torque specs. I know when I did my TC rods, I did the final torque sequence while the vehicle was on the ground...

<-- also still has to do the rear

Did you end up getting them in? I was figuring a vice would work fine to squeeze them in....BTW why would you put the "Purpous:" line then be to lazy to even fill it in on all but like one?At first I just figured you didn't know what a tie rod did, but you have to know what a lower control arm is for...

also I actualy gotta go with him. The pictures are straight forward, nothing is hidden.... If you can't figure it out, it might be best to take a class, or wait till you have a better understanding before you mess with what holds the wheels to the car.

gettin there...one question tho

did you buy the master kit?

and if not, why install sway and tension rod bushings, since youll just be replacing them when you get better stuff anyway (which you will)

yeah, its not a good as some people think to just install one or two bushings, unless the old ones needs to be replaced.i just replaced all except for the subframe's. Since most of my subframe bolts are rusted. i got plenty of picks of the rear and front if anyone cares. But ill let kerik decide, since it is his post.

If he doesn't get it up any time soon (wow, that sounds wrong LOL), I will have a full write up done for Texas240SX.com (I am a mod there) in January when I get mine done.

The best part? I am getting them pressed in for free and getting the kit for cost! I love working for a parts store!!!

i cheated on the rear bushings. i cut them in half and then inserted them. i dont think you can do those without a press. after about 10 failed attempts, i said screw it and cut em up.

this pic doesnt help much but its fiiireeeee!

i should be getting my hyperflex master set on monday along with arp wheel studs...if no one has done a full write-up by then...ill post one up...by the way...has anyone used a rotozip to get the old bushing out instead of burning...burning it seems like it would make it weaker...when my cousin and i replaced his bushings on his s-12 i used a rotozip...it worked...just took a minute...

Good write up.

I purachased the master kit. One in red. Insructions were'nt good..and some packages didn't even have instructions.

Why are we removing the inner ring on the tension rod?

Did anyone esle have problems getting the control arm out? I removed all the bolts and such..but it won't come off...tried bangining with hammer to no avail. Was gonna try pry bar..but don't wana ruin that rubber busings that mounts to the break side.

I am going to home depot to pick up torch and c-clamps!

I love fire!

You have to otherwise the bushing wont go in.

I've used a rotozip but only on drywall lol, burning them out is fun and easy.

The directions do suck.

My lca is stuck but only because the bolt is stuck on the front subframe lol. It wont slide out.

Also, when u get ur master kit and u do the write-up. Start w/ the rear and then move to the front.

Might as well get the hard **** done first then have an easier relaxing time w/ the fronts lol

A quick note on burning out bushings. When the OEM rubber heats up too much it can cause the old bushing to expand and actually ""POP"" out of the hopusing. It's basically like creating a flaming molten rubber projectile!

If you hang it over a bucket of water while it's burning you can usually catch it and keep it from burning down your house or maming you for life

So, I got a set of Energy Suspension bushings, the master set and aluminum subframe bushings. I dropped the rear subframe and tore it apart, installed the subframe bushings which were cake to do. However I have been struggling on the rest. I burned out all the inner metal sleeves and cut out the remaining rubber however I can't seem to get the outer sleeves out. I cut them and tried using a chisel just like I did for the subframes, but no luck. Anyone got any ideas? I'm about to go buy a press from Harbor Freight.

I have the master set also. The rear bushings are kind of flimsy, do they just slide in, with the washers? My instruction of course are crappy as well.

Kenrik

if you are still around, what are the big changes you feel in the handling. Ive had several s13's but never any good bushings

i actually didnt cut them out i just to a sorta small screw driver and hammered it between and used some force to make the otuer ring bend in then i hammered a big *** screw driver in the same spot and bent it some more it just fell out after that

I don't know about you all but I couldn't get the damn bolts loose on my suspension, so I removed the whole rear subframe it only took about 30 minutes. Then I took it into work and did it there I didn;t have to cut my bushings I used a balljoint press and a freeze plug that fit just enough to cover the bushings outer edge so it wouldn't slip while installing it. I did have to help the bushing by squeezing the edges in with channellock plyers seemed to work great got it all done maybe if its ok with kenrick I can post some pictures. The only thing is I didn't take any pictures of the process because kenrick had already started a thread. But if there is anyone interested in the Nortern VA area that wants this done can bring me the whole rear subframe or the peices so I can show (ie pictures and post a write up) what I did to get them installed and possibly help out.

No worries - I will have a complete s13-s14 suspension install DVD out really soon - keep your eyes peeled!

This write - is ok - but I do all mine for the noobs - as thats who needs these write-ups anyways!

If your gonna spend the time doing a write-up or video - do it right - and make sure everyone can understand fully - or else your wasting your time.
