I have been lurking through members builds and cant really find a defenitive answer. Is it absolutely necssary to have some type of ecu tune for a ka24det? is it not possible to run 370cc injectors and wideband on a stock ecu. I currently have two thing left to get the ball running which is wideband and maybe the efi specialist ecu tune. I just need to know...is it a must or just for better tuning?

If you have different Injectors you'll want a tune of some kind.

Thank guys for the info, Im going to go with this ecu tune: http://www.efispecialist.com/store/inde ... oductId=16
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/240SX-En ... ccessories

any suggestions!!

Do these tunes require you to still get a dyno tune after installing? I emailed them that question(no response yet) but just want to see what you guys think. My setup is pretty much on par with the specification, t4 turbo, SR 370cc inj and z32 maf plus i have a safc 2 installed.

240man: what rom tune do you currently have?

i am running a emance tune an i love it i mean for the price i paid 170 to have it done an i dont run a safc i get about 28mpg an when u want it to go it has no problem going at all an idle is 800 an rev is set to 7200 an no speed stop yea!! but a emance, enthalpy, jwt tune. u will not have to dyno it nor run the safc but the safc will make it to where u can fine tune the rom tune an this is just my .02 but a t4 turbo will probley max out those injectors quick i am just running the t2 set up with those 370cc an at 10psi wot i put them to about 85% at a 100% they r done an will break lol u should look in to geting some 500cc or something like that thats just my .02 u cant run the 370cc just make sure u dont max them out lol but good set up except the 370cc Image Image

I run an enthalpy ecu and have no problems. I've personally never dealt with emance but he has to many mixed reviews for me.. i haven't seen any bad reviews on enthalpy honestly. Their biggest problem was customer support, which they seemed to have worked on. Jwt turnaround time is too long, like 6weeks or some b.s like that. My vote is 4 enthalpy.

Yea, emance is out of the question for now. Its now between Enthaply or Efi, the problem with Efi is that they cant tune for 370cc and Z32 maf only 550cc and Z32 maf. So i would have to buy bigger injectors(which I want to do eventually, just not now) to make thier tune work(so...$400 for injectors and $339 for tune=$849. Enthaply may be albe to to tune for 370CC and Z32(havent asked them yet) so thats $400 for tune keeping 370 for now and $150 for reflash after buying the 550cc later down the road= $950. Okay, sorry guys I needed to see this on paper. Its 100 more for enthaply eventually but its over time and Efi would have to be immeaditly. I thinks its Enthaply...problem solved, if they can tune for my setup ;) will be emailing them now!

Secondly, how do you verify which motor year you have in the car if purchased from someone else. The seller told me it was 97 dohc but the ecu says S13 with part number A11B45G08 which I confirmed. I thought the ecu year and the engine year had to match for the car to fucntion correctly.

At first reading this thread made me feel like I could've saved a bunch of cash and gotten basically the same thing by going with emance instead of enthalpy. Or that I should've gone with another option that would allow me to do adjusting and logging myself later. But dealing with enthalpy has been great (mailed my ecu out on Thursday), they answered all of my many questions via email very quickly and i got a deal where my first reflash is included which is great because I plan to upgrade my injectors to 440 or 550 later.
This thread does make me really consider getting wideband tho.

Def still get wideband. If your tune fails one day your afr readings could spike amd you would never know it until it's too late. I also have Enthaply... It's awesome. Question though I for got to ask him. For anyone who has Enthaply does he set it up for a certain Afr, I don't have my gauge install and I'm wondering what the ratio is. I'll email him this question too.

good question, I'm also curious about adjusting for elevation, could definitely use the SAFC to make corrections for elevation. Wideband would be the only way to know when those adjustments are needed though.
