Does anyone know if this electric supercharger actually works with Q's?

The question is not does it work but does it add any value [acceleration] vs cost vs stress on alternator and other systems.

Necessary to understand the relationship between kilowatts and HP, electric motor efficiency, and how much power is needed to compress [137 cubic inches of intake air per revolution of engine]. The peak air gulp per revolution occurs at ~ 4,000 rpm [by definition where the torque peak occurs].

1.0 psi is ~= to a 6.8% boost in air flow and/or power increase.

Remember all engines are already superchargered to 14.7 psi by the Earth's atmosphere. 15.7/14.7 = 1.068 [above].

The major problem is how much added heat [from supercharger electric motor in air path] degrades the boost [1% per 11F for all air not just boosted air], so if all air goes up 75F all the value of 1.0 psi electric boost is wasted!!!!!!!!!!

Important to measure outside air temp vs after compressor temp vs time.......the longer the charger is on the worse the problem gets after 1-2 seconds.

Understand that torque/acceleration is a cube root function so 6.8% boost yields at best 1.88% improvement in acceleration.

For those 1995 and older Q:
Remember Nico/Wolf/Stillen ecu reprograms are best bang for buck since they release 20>30+ Torque/HP from built in safety reserve [depending on KS and fuel quality].

Thank you Tech. I didn't account for any additional heat build-up because of the electric motor on the supercharger itself. And based on the math alone, I agree, the increase would be inappreciable. I also posted an inquiry on hydrogen fuel cell boosters which I would love your opinion on: hydrogen-fuel-cells-t489976.html

Many thanks

BTW, re your last line to owners of 95 and older Q's - No ECU upgrades from anyone on second generation Q's? Jet does do a rechip/reprogram if you send them your ECU. It's almost $400 though and not sure the expense would be worth the gain if less than 8-10 HP. Do you know anything about Jet's ECU mod and whether it would produce results?

The OBD2 system doesn't have a single chip for WOT like the previous 90-95.
Thousands of lines of code have to be analysed. JWT estimates that it will take $200,000 worth of
engineering time roughly ten times what each earlier year and model required.
[Luckily the 90-95 series needed no WOT changes]. But the optimization were done on a 90 motor so the
94-95 don't produce as much gain.
Due to limited market the retail cost would be price prohibited.
Also OBD2 is better optimized and calculates the correct timing and injection rates better [2-32 bit faster
processor vs single 16 bit].......there is less to gain from a reprogram maybe 10-12 vs 27-28 on the 90-95.
Who would pay $2,500 for 10-12 HP and you would have to sell 200 to breakeven.
JWT probably hasn't sold 200 90-95 ECU in 10 years [we've only sold 8].
Think you'll find that no one makes a post 95 chip for Infiniti since there is NO CHIP to replace. All the
software has to be rewritten then recompiled.
Jet doesn't have the best reputation on Nissan products.
JWT is the only company who actually dynamometer test products they are the only US I would trust.
