I have a 2001 Infiniti QX4. The electric seat decided to take an extended coffee break. The other controls (tilt/raise/lower) work fine. I do hear a noise when I push the forward/backward button (relay?) but there is no movement.

Any suggestions on what to check or how to repair?

You're probably hearing the motor trying to work. Is the click coming from below the seat? Since all the other functions work I wouldn't suspect a fuse. Chances are good there's an obstruction in the seat track and it's jammed. Seats are easy to pull- a couple of trim pieces and 4 bolts. Try removing the seat to inspect and clean the tracks.

I had a dime stuck in the driver's seat track of my previous car. The dime got bent pretty bad and was really stuck. Once I removed it, everything went back to normal.

Wow! What a great forum!!! Thanks for ALL the tips!

I have all these tools and all I needed was a 1/4" ratchet to tap around?! Some great information if it happens again--wonder how long this will last. Already told the wife to find a position we can both use and not grow. Ok, well I think we're safe there...

Fortunately, for the $1.00 menu at Taco Bell we never have loose change rolling around but that was a good thought. I really didn't want to have to take the seat out.

Thanks again everyone. Yall also bailed me out of my i30 moonroof leaking (drain hose became disconnected).

Tim
