Where is a good place to find those electric fan conversions? Is it hard to do? I just got my 240SX and that is one thing I really want to do.

http://www.enjukuracing.com also carries the electric fan conversion for our cars.As well as a large double fan conversion for 2 12" fans.

Is the install for the electric fans really hard? Ive been looking at doing the mod myself but im kinda put off by all the work with electrical and fuses. I like to think of myself as handy with a wrench, but not too good with the wires. I saw the install on the 240sx.org installs page but i would like to see what other thought about the difficulty of the install.

It took me a little under 2 hrs to install it and clean up the engine bay.

It's not that bad at all to do the swap. I have dual fans on my car but there both single pieces. I believe I have a 15" that is on all the time and a 10" or 12" for the AC. I used a 30 amp relay and hooked it up to the 15".The AC fan should be electrical and you just wire it back up to the original ones.

It took me around 2-3 hours to do it too.

I bought two fans from auto zone including an adjustable relay. The fans cycle on at 178 and cycle off at 170. I use a 12-inch for the a/c and a 15-inch for the radiator. This cost me 100 bucks and has been working for one year.

by using dual electric fans and removing the crank driven fan you are freeing up horsepower that would otherwise be used to drive the crank fan.

Garage Battle, I talked to Ken @ enjuku and he said that their dual 12" elec fans for the SR fits almost perfect over the KA radiator...MAYBE some ppl could get a GroupBuy for our GB section started w/ Ken!?!?!?!?!?!?! EH?!!?!?!?!?! How about one of the Mods???? just an idea that i think would be beneficial to every1.

Your car HAS an electric fan. Why does everyone feel the need to replace the existing fan or add another one? OE fan works fine and looks clean, unless you swap radiators and don't have the mounting tabs anymore.

well, the problem comes when you remove the crank fan, and start doing heavy modifications to the car, or spend a lot of time sitting in traffic.

Heat warps heads. Warped heads cost lots of money to replace...

Better safe than sorry is how most of us look at it.

Where is there an electric fan on a '91 240SX?

I was working on my friends car and I didn't see an electric fan.

it's in front of the condenser. if he doesn't have a/c he doesn't have a fan.

hmm...

he has a/c. when do the fan come on? how big is it?

cant you just wire a radiator fan off the same circuit? I mean use a separate relay for the radiator fan?

The reason he is looking is because his viscous clutch for the mechanical fan he has now is seized up and the thing will knock off your hat while the engine idles.

well, if you were to wire a new electrical fan to the A/C fan, it owuld only be on when the A/C is on...

Not a good thing on cold days...

oh guess that makes sense :pface

Then what is R240NA trying to say? Yes the cars have and electric fan, but it only operates with the ac on.

I will probably wind up going to the junkyard and picking up some fan(s) for the 240. Any ones fit better than others?

um...any can be made to fit with some work.

R240NA was trying to say that you can rewire the A/C fan to run all the time by connecting it's positive lead to a Ignition Hot source.

People claim gains ranging from 2 to 14.

Best actual guess would be between 5 and 7.

not true.

the condenser fan only comes on when engine temperature exceed 208 degrees on the KAe (212 degrees for the KAde).

okay, now we have some conflicting information.

One guy says that the condenser fan only comes on when the A/C is turned on and the other says the it would come on at 212 degrees for my friends application. (In case you haven't noticed, "my friend" with the 240 is bazan, the guy who started this thread)

I need to know who is right. If I could just wire a second fan of the A/C circuit to come on a 212, that would be sweet.

Thanks.

you can solve this one yourself.

crank up your car and turn the a/c on.

but if you think about it, there's no need for the fan to be on while you're driving the car and running a/c. the incoming air will take care of the cooling.

Hello fellas.

I can add this to the mix:

This guy must have not had an AC that is why he is running a single 15" fan.

I have a ka24de in a 93 coupe with AC. The stock system is a clutch fan and an electric fan for the condenser.

When I found that my clutch fan was failing me I decided to go with twin 12" FAL fans. Model numbers 112. They are the trim line series.

The two fans replace the clutch and the condenser fans.

They fit on the radiator next to each other. They use plastic zip screws to mount to the radiator.

I wired them to a Permacool dual fan controller with temp controls.

The permacool gets it's feed directly from battery.

It gets a signal from the existing blue wire from the condenser fan telling my left fan to kick on. It kicks on when the car overheats and when the ac is turned on.

The right fan replaces the clutch fan. It comes on at 150 degrees. I set this temp with the permacool. I run a temp gauge and I know seat of my pants dyno says the car likes 130-160 degrees.

I also searched all over for the wiring diagrams for the fans and for any information from people that had installed them. It is a hard thing to come up with. I finally got fed up and just ordered the stuff from Summit Parts.

The wiring from the 30a permacool is like this.

Main Ground - Black - We broke the old ground on the wheel well next to the ac bladder. Ended up setting up a new one. Drilled the hole out and used a quarter twenty screw double nutted.

Main Hot - Red - Straight off the battery terminal.

Blue - Blue from condenser fan. ground the old black wire"]Yellow - Hot leg for first fan.Brown - Hot leg for condensor fan.

There are ground legs for all of the fans and the permacool. They are all black and can all be spliced together to ground.

I will take some pics of this install when I get my damn radiator. I have to undo all of the work to custom mount the fans to the new radiator. It will be mounted the same though.

Hope this helps.

The next step will be a koyo rad. I am going to take it to work with me and heliarc some tabs onto it to bracket the fans to. I ride with a rock hard suspension and I don't trust those plastic zip ties.

Think of it. Rad is hot. Hot water and AF convecting in there. Cooking those zipties you just tied your expensive fans on with.

They are either getting attached to welded tabs or I am taking some flat stock aluminum and bending some tabs for them to mount to.

I will post it on the site I hang out on and link it to here. They work on a contribution system and I want to be the FAN guy.
