Of course, certain connections for reverse lights, and not being able to crank when the clutch is out would need to be made. Proof of this is that on the 300zx, an auto ECu will plug in and work in a manual car, whilst a Manual ECu doesnt work in auto.

...if you dont mind me asking, what places have you heard of/reccomend for a custom driveshaft? a CF one would be really nice, as i bet the steel one is pretty weighty

just type in 'drive shaft' in a search engine and there's plenty of places out there willing to make one. apparently a lot of Jeeps use them. The only reason I brought this up is because I'm assuming the M/t and A/T are not the same lenght...is this true?

correct, different driveshafts on each transmission in the 300zx. actually different driveshafts between NA/ TT as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the TT has the same transmission as the Q at least in the auto versions in order to handle the higher power from the turboed motor. It would follow that the drive shaft would be built to match. The TT motor also differs from the na with heavier connecting rods, etc. even though it is the same, albeit heavier duty, design (VG30DETT).

For the new guys, the JDM offered a J with the 4.1 liter V8. Now that would truly be a properly powered J. The VG30DE is a great engine but the J is so over engineered chasis wise that a 4.1 motor would be another level of fun. :yummy

if you give me the Q45 transmission model # i can confirm it, i have the 300zx manual. They might be the same base transmission case, but i think the gears are different. i know for a fact that all the different auto/manual/TT/NA/2+2/coupe combinations have different driveshaft part numbers with nissan.

putting in a 4.1 would be ultimate, but would cost much more and take much more work than the supercharged VG. (exhaust, totally new electronics, etc) I dont mean to dis the Q powerplant, but it seems the engine is a bit more quirky and picky than the VG, with all the chain guide whatever i dont know what im talking about...i

Read this, in particular the last post Q45tech makes about A/T gearing...not sure if he's implying ALL nissan trannies or just J30's.http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....+diff

Also remember the TT had a 3.92 rear diff and the N/A has a 4.08. Interesting since they put the 3.92 in the J30.. it's because of this that I feel comfortable going to new final drive..either the 4.083 or the 4.363. Apparently Nissan Motorsports used to offer a 4.183, but it was disconitued. The 4.363 would be sweet with the extra 11% power w/11% drop in mpg, but I don't use my car as a daily driver. Just a weekend pimpin machine..LOL I got a 28mpg economy car for the work week :ylsuper

Those are gear ratios of the rear differential. As in a ten speed bike, larger rear gears make it easier to pedal with the trade off being that you can't go as fast. Mods like this are for increased acceleration but at the expence of top end speed and fuel economy.
