I figured I'd start a thread for random comments about the election results as they unfold.

I'm looking at CNN at 7:56PM, and they're reporting Kentucky's senate seat is 53/47 for Paul/Conway, with 40% reported. I'm surprised it's that close.

Also: it's beginning to look like in FL that Meek & Crist splitting the vote didn't matter, but that'd be really close. If Meek dropped and we gave all his votes to Crist, it'd still be 50/49.

Looks like Christine was defeated and Marco Rubio won his seat.

It's weird, Fox is reporting these candidates have won and CNN is saying they "Project" them to win. :gotme:

I was watching the CNN feed online and was surprised to learn that NPR, FOX, and ABC had all called CT for Blumenthal - turns out $50million (a per capita record for campaign spending) doesn't buy you an election, Linda McMahon, even in a Republican-favored election. Forget about projecting, they just hadn't actually called the sucker at all. CNN seems to be taking the careful route with the election.

Apparently you also need to be a decent candidate with the ability to speak about issues when asked.

Also: big issues with CT's ballots, in many parts of the state. That's a story that's still unfolding, but the City of Bridgeport has 69,000 registered voters, and the Registrar of Voters ordered 21,000 ballots for the city. Secretary of State of CT has said she told Registrars of Voters to order a 1-for-1 ratio of ballots, so we can see where the blame is headed. Just can't figure out why. Polls in 9 or 12 districts of Bridgeport have been extended to be open to 10:00PM, instead of 8:00PM.

This could have an effect on the Gubernatorial election or on the House race for that district (one of the tightest House races in the Nation).

It looks like there's no way the Republicans can take the Senate now. Kirk isn't showing well enough in Illinois and they appear to like Manchin jus' fine in West Virginia. Without Illinois, it's over, and if Republicans can't take Illinois, they won't take Washington and California either.

Why would you be doing a Republican happy dance? That only means another couple of years of partisan, uncompromising increased spending and increased deficit Washington politics. Th Republicans and the Democrats have both proven to the American people that they are incapable of governing in a responsible manner and doing what is good for America. Only what is good for special interest groups, big corporations and their own pocketbooks.

Once again the American people have lost an election and an opportunity to get their government back.

Remember when Obama won how Bob made this thread saying all he had to worry about now was putting the cover down on his Corvette? I was just making a jab at him.

Nothing personal.

I had my crow all defrosted and ready to eat, but it appears the Illinois and Pennsylvania Senate races have turned towards the Republicans, both leading by a hair now. They might still end up with 50 seats.

omg. I can't believe Dirty Hairy won. Both Mr. Lutz and Mr. Rasmussen predicted he would lose. Besides nobody in Nevada likes him, according to friends in Las Vegas.

I wonder if the "ultra sensitive touch screens" did it?

Things worked out well. Dems keep the Senate and GOP gets the House. I approve.

Now, maybe the bastards will start working to resolve issues.

I've gotta agree. As much as I'd like to see the Democrats out of office too much power at once isn't healthy. Complete power, like the Dem's have had, isn't healthy for anyone. Republicans screwed up so badly 8 years in a row and I hope this round they will be more careful. I don't think it's healthy for them to regain control of Congress so suddenly.

So the two races I mentioned that had to deal with voter issues were the CT Gubernatorial race and the CT 4th District.

Governor's race is 50-49 in favor of the Republican, and CNN isn't calling it with 82% reporting. CT 4th is 50-50, and CNN's calling it for the Democrat with 78% reporting and a lead of 510 votes.

This is about how I look at it. I'm surprised Reid hung on though. I can't say I'm distressed as while I don't care for the guy, Sharron Angle terrifies me.

It will be interesting to see what comes out of a GOP house. The onus is on them now to propose solutions.
