Does anyone know if this guy is legit? He claims to be renowned on many Nissan forums.. Yet, all the ones I have been on(which is most all of them) I have never seen, nor heard of them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

This may be a re-post of some sorts, kinda like the one they were talking about a few days ago. But there was no mention of a 'name'.Not that I'd use them, but I'm putting this out here just in case this guy isn't all that legit so noone gets burnt by them.

Thanks,Eric

efispecialist is his screen name on ebay. This is what he claims

".......We have many references so feel free to ask or you can search for me on many Nissan forums."

He also claims these numbers to be the 'AFRs'

".....idle 14.7-19

Wot: 11.8-12.0"

*edit* Ok, I searched the forum and I found two threads about this guy. I guess he's been around for a while doing SR20DET tunes. Here are some links to the threads....

zer...07449

zerothread?id=213952

And here is a link directly to his page for KA-T stuff..

http://www.efispecialist.com/s...Id=10

I've also put in a very lengthy e-mail to this guy so hopefully he can answer some questions. If anyone wants a copy of it, shoot me an e-mail. I'm afraid to post it because it's almost 4am and I just started spilling **** all over the place. Hopefully he can make heads or tales of what I was trying to say...

There are a number of people who surf the tuning websites and gather the free tunes people post which are largely experimental and then sell them on Ebay - if they are not total scams. It might be interesting to search hybridka.com and see if his tuning combos match the free tunes posted. On that site there is even a post about Ebay tunes where one was found to be just that.

Once one understands tuning, it really is simple enough for just about anyone to do but with all the unscrupulous people out there I wouldn't trust my motor to some unknown Joe.

I don't know where the 'free tune' came from, but did you check out his site? He tunes a few different types of Nissan ECU's. I'm just asking for peoples input about it and share any experiences they may have had. I believe in the gold ol' american saying, "innocent until proven guilty". Of course I would probably pound the **** outta some guy that boogers up my ECU and fry's my motor. lol But then we could say he wasn't legit and move on. I found some posts from people from back in '04 so I guess he's been at it for a while. Maybe I'll just keep it off the boards and do my own research and then share everything

No, I searched the forum for 'efispecialist' and anything that goes along with it. If he was on the forums, he would more than likely promote his site which is http://www.efispecialist.com.

What exactly are you getting at?

Just seeing if perhaps he went by a different screen name so I knew if I had heard of him or not.

Yeah, I have no idea about his screen names. I sent him a lengthy e-mail yesterday, so hopefully he'll get it tomorrow. I'll update everyone tomorrow night if at all possible. I'll ask him what his screen name is on each, if any forums that he is so 'notably' known for.

I can see how some people wouldn't want others to know that they are tuning for $$$ on account of people might give them a hard time.

Also, once you figure out how to do it and save up a few good tunes it's not that hard to do. Contrary to popular belief most MAF based setups will behave quite similarly. I just took my fuel table from my 460cc Z32 MAF tune and pluged it into a stock tune for a guy and it came out right on the money. I would defenitly talk to the guy about fine tuning should there be a need.

I still don't like the idea of fixed timing tables for anything over 7lbs.

Given what we've found in the patent information (7psi, 15psi, doesn't matter, reads the same cells), should be even easier to configure timing in a fixed table.

Ok, I got an answer back from this 'efispecialist'. I will be contacting him to follow through with more research. This is mostly for my own knowledge because I am going to be tuning my own ECU or going standalone. Maybe he knows what he's doing, maybe he doesn't. Here is what I wrote him, and what he wrote back. From me, to him:Hey there. Just saw your product on e-Bay and decided to do a bit of research. I'm one of the guys that frequent the nicoclub.com forums thatloves to read information for the Turbocharged KA24DE. I'm veryinterested in your ECU tuning and whatnot. Just a bit of information if I could...If I were to say, buy the "DIY Daughterboard Upgrade", would I be ableto tune the car myself with the included software? And I were to buy one of your pre-packaged ECU Tunes, would I be able tofine tune it myself with any included software?Reason I ask this, is that the pre-packaged tunes that Enthalpy, and JWT

offer are encrypted and leave no room for tuning. With that said, I'msure as an ECU enthusiast, you know that even the car with the same exactparts, will need separate/different tunes. Doesn't leave a whole lot of roomfor error.Say for the typical 500$ tune, it's not quite right. You send it back for another tune. And then your charged another 100$ to 'try' that one out.At this rate, people are starting to kick themselves for not goingstand-alone for the same price. People willingly give out stand-alone tunes to help with getting your car going. But what I'm asking is there any way that your tune can be altered so that it may be fine tuned within the ECU without using another said 'piggyback' ?Any information would be great, as I am writing a big thread about itback on the forum. Alot of guys are leary because of the 'junk' that is circulated on eBay. And that is where I learned of your tune initially.Hopefully you can shed some light onto yourself and maybe have a wholeslew of business for yourself in the near future. I believe in the 'innocent until proven guilty' theory. I've not seen your tune around, but I'vealso not see it fail or heard bad things about it. So to shed some light on everything, I'm inquiring. And also, what values do you tune? K only? VQ map only? The twocombined? Anything else besides clipping the top speed and raising RPM? Please enlighten me so I may share the information. If calling you would be better, please let me know. I know I havecovered alot in this e-mail, so if the phone works better for you, then so beit.

I appreciate your time and willingness to read this. I anticipate agreat response!

Thank you,Eric

And his reply:Hi Eric, give me a call and we'll talk. To quickly answer your question,I don't offer any software for the DIY package or the pre tuned ecu. Myservice is for people who wants a plug and plug setup and not have tofiddle with the tuning. I think Bikirom setup would be more suitablefor you because it comes with software that you can mess around with.Regarding my tuning, I make changes to fuel map, timing, vq map, ttp, kvalue, and a few other stuff inside the rom.

We'll see where this goes after I speak with him. I would like to learn more about tuning, so if this doesn't help anyone but myself, then I guess 'someone' learned from it. lol
