I think the current CVT Maximas sullied the legendary name, this the exclusion. Today's Maxima is a competent car, but it isn't the corner-flinging gear-rowing 4-door joymobile that the previous generations were.

"Competent" isn't exactly a good word. Camrys are competent. Tauruses were competent. The Maxima is supposed to be special. And not boomerang headlights wear a helmet and ride the short bus special.
