Any tricks getting the speakers out of the doors....? Do the grills pop off or do you have to go in from behind the door?

You have to pull the entire door trim... the grilles have metal tabs that bend over, so you would almost have to destroy them to pry them out.

Pull the door panel off. It will look something like this.

This is a pic from when I changed the window regulator. Even if you could pull the grill off, you wouldn't have access as you see from this pic.

Thanks Louie, I am going to take the panel in the near future to replace my regulator. Thanks again, and you provided an awesome write-up. -EQwhipD

Thanks guys...I got the door panel off, removed the speaker box and took the speaker out...however...there is a circuit board in the speaker box and it's making me a little nervous. What if the circuit board is bad and not the speaker....any suggestions?

You hit the nail on the head. It's usually the board or amplifier that goes bad, not the speaker.

Well....I popped for the speakers because they were priced right and I fiqured I might as well since I had to take the pods out of the doors anyways...I think the amps are the problem and I saw a company in Florida that will rebuild them for 80 bucks a piece. Anyone ever have the amps repaired? Do you think this is legit? The dealers want something ridiculous to replace them...and I can't stand having no front speakers....

I'll look to see if I still have my amps which were working fine when I gutted them. If I didn't throw them out, you can have them for free... just pay for ship.

I bought 1 of those speakers from ebay for my 92 q45. When I plugged it in..no luck:( It is for my passenger side front door. When I have the volume at its peak and fader to front and balance to the passenger side I can barely hear a little sound from the speaker. Does it sound like the circuit board or amp is bad? How many amps are there and where is the location? Also where it the circuit board..did I not dig deep enough? Thanks! Nel
