Gosh darn,

I drooled over this thing too. And I thought wow, a mint perfect blue hair car. Just goes to show...buying a car- you must see it in person.

I would have bid even higher and been a little disapointed. I looked at six under 100K Qs over the past 12 months and each one had issues.

If it looks too good to be true...

I'm restoring my green 94 to off the boat new. I have the interior showroom except for the pass door leather panel and a scuff in the carpet. The body, that's another set of issues. Needs a rear bump, and lots of scratch removal. The transmission is almost done and the susp is excel. It has 47K.

Once its done I'll post pics.

I hope you love your 94 enough to make it new too

Congrats!

Peter

I think this proves that you may have overpaid... however, its probably not all in haste... You have a rare opportunity to really start on maintenance.. Get a trans cooler in there, synthetic fluids, and all fresh fluids and your Q will last a long time...

Because letting it sit being a garage queen is not an option.....

Hope things work out well for you, taking it to T3 is a great start/plan.

We'll all be looking to see how well the "37K Q" turns out .

Congratulations on your e-bay purchase, Bret. I hope all the issues turn out to be minor ones. I have had the honor of owning two Q45s a black 1992 T and a gold 1996T. I drove the black one for nearly 200,000 miles and donated it to make a wish foundation. My 1996 had a premature death at about 125,000 miles due to my passing out at the wheel after a dialyses session when too much fluid was removed and not enough blood pressureleft for co0nciousness. It was my only accident in 32 years of driving- but my license was suspended. I have since made medication adjustments. I took written and visual driver's tests (100% on both) I took a driving test and "only" got 99% . My DMV attorney has an appointment next month to get my license back. I just bought a 1995 Q45Tforest green with tan interior with about 75000 miles clean carfax from texas. Will be trucked to me in a few weeks, will give a full report on delivery.!

Talk to me if you need misc parts. I'm right here in ATL and am quite reasonable. T3 is great and all but you did just spend over 8 big ones.

..Drew...

Q with Jan 1990 build date. 204K

Alrighty.... here's the latest.

There is nothing major wrong with the car. It's mostly deferred maintenance issues and your typical 12-year old car problems.

Beyond the usual filters, fluids and belts, it needs:

*A new window amplifier so the RF door lock and window switches will work properly.

*A new Bose speaker in the LF door. They'll replace it with a used unit.

*Turn the rotors to remove the warpage and deglaze or replace the pads.

The CEL issue was traced to a bad vacuum line.

The "wallowing" I felt over uneven surfaces is just the way the car is. The shocks and struts are in good condition. Ty suggested installed a roll bar in the rear from an A or T model. I'll prolly budget for that one next year.

All in all I am happy to hear the car is in solid condition. I should have it back this Friday and will probably detail it this weekend. A new set of tires and I'll be ready to roll.

The only way to test shocks is to remove them and measure the self expansion time or for preciseness place them on a shock dynometer.

I can assure you 12 year old shocks are not brand new.

Everyone standards vary and yes Ty owns a Q but he drives a Toyota Pickup.
