I don't have a clip... but I can tell you this. Last Saturday I was running open 3" dump pipe (removed cat) on my car at the track. We left very late so I drove my car like 25 min to the hotel without the cat. It is LOUD, so loud I decided to turn off the radio since I had to turn the volume way to high to hear anything and I had a headache.

I think he is referring to a dump tube from the wastegate bud, not your downpipe/ dump pipe as you are referring to it.

As for the original question, yes it is loud, my friend's KA-T obliterates any other sound while he is at full boost and the wastegate is open. This can be fixed by a lawnmower muffler(seriously).

the less restriction coming out, the better performance, mainly in response time. the more restriction coming out, the quieter sound you get.

You have to find a happy medium between the two for the application.

Open downpipe forever, yeah. External dump is the only way to go dudes.

It's everyone's personal preference. But I totally prefer having my dump pipe muffled. The noise that came out of my dumppipe when it was divorced was not only loud, but sounded like crap. It was absolutely embarrassing to boost.

Open is supposed to creat more power to the wheels. I know that muffling the dump tube will quiet it, but i dont think that you would loose much power from muffling it. There was someone who used a small tractor muffler(looked like a motorcylce exhaust) and it sounded really good, and made no sacrifice in power.

I like the external dump...C-Kwick, you need to be faster obviously. Speed totally makes up for any weird sounds you might be making.

Yeah, but the difference is marginal, and being a street car and in Cali, I'd prefer not to take chances. And that car is loud enough as it is. Adding an absolutely ugly sound doesn't impress anyone. Not to mention you could smell the exhaust fumes everytime I came to a stop after boosting. Girls don;t seem to like that much.

Screw the muffler...I love the nasty, loud sound of my "dump". And I'm not one to show off much, or be a d*** to other drivers...I don't instigate races, etc...

But when it's at WOT, I like it LOUD!!!

Scares the racetrack courseworkers!

Anyway, mine exits right under the drivers seat, so no smell of exhaust, it all blows out the back.

I ran my external on the skyline dumped right out of the engine bay, I didn't notice to much exhaust stink, but I usually like that kinda smell anyway...race gas an alcohol...I'd wear it out clubbin...

Dude, I run a dump tube on my car, and when its not broke down from running stock drivetrain, I drive it all the time. I love the sound myself, but mine is quieter than a 35 is (I used to have the 35) because I run an Innovative Turbo 42mm Progate, so it doesnt open as far for the same duty, plus Im running 1bar on the daily tune, where I was running 7psi on the old setup.

i want to run one open, and thats not really the problem--i just want to have a muffle on the car for some extra quietness.I did thing a little different on this car.

I dont drag race hardly ever--so when i do, its mostly for fun, and I never run more than 2 or 3 times in a night at the strip. 1/4 times arent all that important to me, but highway racing is....as is comfort, and having a fast car with the nicest possible interior, and exterior as possible. This is more a "nice" car than a race car---not saying race cars cant be nice--but this is more of a creature comfort kind of car.

SO anyway--I want the muffler simply because it would make it just a little more subtle, and plus i'll still get the benifits of having an open dump. My wife rides with me alot and i still want to be a little consider it----naw--screw that..she likes loud cars. But this is a daily driver for me, so i want it a little quiet.

Ok--so back to my original question---where the f can i find a small muffler for this thing.

I got mine at Advance Autoparts in the small engine section. it was like $4.00 its awesome. When/if you get it. Look in the middle of it. Theres a small disc of metal that forces the exhaust to go through the packing. I figured that might be too much back-pressure, so I stuck a rod of metal in there and removed the disc.
