the sound of an open is cool at first, but it does get real annoying after a while. i like it when the wastegate first opens and you get that loud ssshhhhhh sound. i put a lawnmower muffler back on mine last week, and it is so much quiter. but i did notice i am getting just a bit of boost creep. i have a tial w/ a 5psi spring. without the muffler on the dump pipe, it would hold a constant 5psi, but since i got the muffler, it holds at 5 for a second, then gradually climbs to 8 or so. its no big deal now, since i can support 8psi but i want to get it fixed so i can adjust my BC to actually run at 8psi. my muffler is pretty small, i think it said its for a 5-7hp engine, so im sure its restricting the airflow a bit which is causing the boost creep. so im going to look around for a bigger muffler, or try one of my motorcycle mufflers that are less restrictive.

Try to find one like I got. Like i mentioned, it has a bit in it that causes a good bit of back pressure, but it can be easily removed. Basicaly looks like a coke can with a tube at the top (to get an idea of the shape.

Look @ the left hand column, 2nd muffler. think thats ithttp://doityourself.com/store/mufflers.htm

Would using a motorcycle muffler off a bike like a R6 or Ninja on the wastegate give that high pitched wine or would it have a different sound all together?

Ummmmmm.... dunno. Id say try and find a smaller muffler, but one that is a straight-through design to keep backpressure to a minimum. Plus the smaller the muffler, the easier it is to place.

My buddy who also has a KA-T uses a supertrapp dirtbike muffler

yea i think mine is like that. so you just knocked out that center piece? that may be all i need to do then. and if that doesnt work, i have a few old dirt bike silencers to try.

also using a streetbike muffler is not going to make it sound like one. the reason they sound like that is because of their motors.

If you are talking about the whine from the turbo itself, then no. That is the sound of a turbine and compressor spinning at a very high speed.

Actually, it looks like I red your post wrong. I thought you said get rid of rather than give. Mufflers are designed to reduce existing noises. A motorcycle tends to be high pitched because they are small motors that rev high. If the should does not exist from your car in the first place, the muffler isn't going to make a new noise. Save for the bubb rubb whistle thing. When my wastegate dumped open, it did not make a high pitched sound.

Ok thats good, i actually don't want the sound and wanted to make sure i wouldn't get it if i used a motorcycle muffler. I don't like the high pitched sound, its way to honda for me...and i try to do everything i can to be dissaccociated with them, lol...
