Happens on the '02 Maxima as well. Below is the "fix" for the Maxima, I'm sure it is similar for yours...

Step 1: Pry the plastic cap up off the bottom centre of the door pull handle and remove the single philips screw.

Step 2: Remove the whole switch panel (in which the door pull handle sits) by prying it up from the back end either with a flat edged screwdriver or table knife (under cloth) or by hand which is what I did. It is just clipped in so should come out relatively easily sliding it up at the back and then pulling it back.

You can now see the inside of the door from where the switch finishing plate sat. You can leave the wiring all attached and simply hang the switch and handle plastic assembly to one side so you can see the inside of the door.

Look inside towards the front bottom of the door behind the plastic vapour barrier you will see a small black switch. It almost looks like a black pan screw head. This is the reset switch but there is a sequence to now doing the actual reset procedure. The switch doesn't really feel like one when you press it through the plastic liner which incidentally you don't need to cut (at least I didn't have to). It is a switch that is only on when you are pressing it otherwise when released it is off.

STEP 3: Make sure the window is closed (up) completely. Turn the ignition on so the windows are receiving power.

a) Press the reset switch (and keep it pressed in) and open (down) the window completely (manually -NOT with AUTO ONE TOUCH DOWN FUNCTION).b) Release the reset switch. Then close the window completely (manually only - NOT AUTO UP).c) The limit switch is now reset. Easy!!!

This procedure worked for me straight away as I hope it will for you should you have this annoying problem. The Nissan manual does caution you not to use the one touch UP-DOWN function during this procedure so be warned.

Hey I really appreciate the advice. I have had this problem ever since I bought my 01 QX4 and never knew why it happened. My passenger side window now goes up really slow... is there any easy fix to that as well? Once again, great help audtatious

I would suggest taking the door panel off and gently take off the plastic so you can access the window. Make sure all the tracks look OK and then readd some grease to the tracks and sliders. If that does not take care of the problem, validate you have the appropriate voltage going to the motor (if so, then you probably need a new motor).

thanks so much!

the other link explained the switch a little better. I was pushing a random black nickel sized dot rather than the tiny button. And to think, I had been living with that for 4 years...

the dealer actually told me to save my money and just live with it haha

My driver's window does this when I'm doing like 70+ and I roll up the window...the air pressure pops it back down about 4 inches....irritating, 'cause I gotta slow down to get my window up. But only certain times..kinda hit and miss..

isn't it the security device thing kicking in to prevent closingthe window on an object

it only happens here when it moisture gets in the way and my windows take almost forever to close...at 3/4 way up my passenger window just gives up

My drivers window and I cant seem to get mine to take to this

I have the window all the way up, I push and hold that squishy button in the door, put the window down all the way manually, release the button, and then put the window back up manually.

Am I doing something wrong??

If you are following the procedure outlined in the sticky, then it won't work.
The last time I looked at it and tried it (last year), I realized there was an error in the procedure.
I can't remember off hand what it is, but I'll do a little checking in my files and get back to you.
Cheers.

I remember now seeing that process for the Maxima, and used it (successfully) the first time I had the window up problem (probably 4 years ago by now.)
keep us posted.

I searched forever and found no different process, I may just not be holding the button down properly or continuously while reseting it. I dont like how youve got to push it through that dinky rubber cover

The procedure I posted above was for a Maxima, and did work when I needed to do it on my 2k2 Maxima. Seems it has worked with other models as well.

Used this fix on 2003 Nissan Pathfinder - didn't see the switch at first, was feeling around and felt this little piece of metal sticking out and felt it depress under my finger. Procedure worked great.

...need help...3 months ago I had to bring my car to the service department because my ac quit blowing cold air. They told me I needed a new condensor. They changed it and worked find for 3 months then did it again. I brought it in today and they preceded to tell me that it is now the compressor. They stated that its not the condensor because its full with freon. So as I left the dealer, my ac started blowing cold air again. As I got closer to home which was approximately 1 hour away, I lowered the up and down setting, then noticed the air was getting warm again. It actually felt like I had turned the heater on. I called my local Mechanic with my story and he told me that it sounds like it would be the control switches on the dash. So, when I left in my car this afternoon it was still blowing hot. I tapped on the controllers and it began blowing cold air until I got about 2 miles down the road. Does anyone have this same problem.. I'm starting to think that the Nissan Service Dept. is screwing with somebody. $3000 in a condensor and compressor with hr rate and still not work... I think something is starting to seem fishy... Any help would be appreciative..

I was also in same situation as CanuckQx4 and even after 4-5 tries, issue was still not fixed. It finally worked for me as I changed the time I was spending on steps. Basically released the reset button a few seconds after the window was down using manual mode and then pulled it up. I think I also waited a second or 2 after pressing the reset button before starting to open the window. Following link also helped with pictures etc and the last comment that you have to try it multiple times...

Hope it helps someone else also.

Procedure works well.
I'm finding now that I have to do this about once a year. Truck's getting older I guess.

Hi, I have a 2007 Murano and the same problem with passenger window. Same procedure? where can I find the reset switch in my car? because I tried under the switch panel and did not see anything. I think I should unmount the whole door panel.

I'm assuming it's the same, but not being familiar with the Murano, the reset switch could be anywhere in there.
Even in my Pathfinder, it was hard to find.
It is VERY small, and covered up with that black insulating paper.
