I've had this problem all winter and have ignored it. (waiting for warmer weather.)When I close my drivers side window, pulling up on the auto switch, the window goes to the top, and then drops down about 4 inches. I can repeat this scenario forever by pulling the switch up again. Each time I do this, the window goes up, and then back down. The only way to close it, and keep it closed, is to partially pull up the switch and tab it up until closed. The dealer wants to charge me by the hour to pull the door trim apart and troubleshoot from there. Um, I don't think so. Has anyone seen this problem, and is it easy to fix? Thanks in advance for any help. This forum has been very informative by the way. I've learned a lot since I joined.

Hey KoukiS14, just thought I'd thank you for your advice.Just got around to fixing my window tonight, and it took me all of 2 minutes after I found the reset switch.Turns out I didn't have to remove any door panels. The reset switch is under the power window switch assembly. All I had to do was pop it out and bingo. Done. Thanks again. And to think my dealer wanted $70.00 to do it.

Thanks .... The Stealer charged me $100 for "fixing" this problem on my 02 pathy two years ago. It broke again a year later and they wanted another hundred to fix again.Armed with this post it took me under 5 min to fix this problem.

Your right about not having to take the door panel off. The reset button is a little black rubber "nub" right there attached to the door next to the switch bank

What scumbaggs they are at the dealer.

this is an awesome post...

Thanks !!!!!

Did somebody say dealer? They wanted $350 to reset my SRS light, after I removed the seats to clean the carpet (the seats have airbags in them) I learned, from these forums, the procedure which only involved pressing the door switch like five times in a sequence, along with twisting the key at a certain point. I don't remember exactly. It took me about 15 seconds total and worked first try. Made me sick knowing they would do the same thing for $350.

Hi guys, i have been having this problem for over a year, just figured my power window unit was going, and i know how expensive that can be.

Could you elaborate as to how to find the reset switch the easy way on a pathfinder? Once I fix mine i'll put up some pics and all so that anyone who has this issue can fix it without going to the stealer.

Thanks guys, once again this forum comes through saving me $$$ Thats why i'm happy to support the advertisers here!-Jim

As promised, here is the link to the directions to fix your pathfinders power window . I included an image of where to find that little reset button. Should be a five minute fix for most folks.

I'm so glad I found this posting. I was about to bring it to the dealer.

I popped the panel off and saw inside the door, but I cannot locate the reset switch on my 2002 Altima. Can anyone help?

Can't say for sure where it is exactly in the Altima, but on my Pathy, it was directly below the power window switch console. Apparently on the Maxima, it's further down. The switch itself is a little deceiving. Maybe that's why you are having a problem. It's not actually a switch. It's a TINY push button, covered in what I would call a waterproof black rubber like membrane. Remember, it is small and easy to miss. In fact it almost looks like a black screw head. I missed it the first time because that is what I thought it was. Once you find it, the reset process takes 30 seconds.Keep us up to date.

My wife thought that I was messing with her when she tried to roll up the window and it dropped the amazing 4".

You guys are the best! Thanks.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I found the switch on the Altima. It is hidden behind a plastic covering and you have to push it in fairly hard to activate it. I was so relieved when the window started working correctly again.

Im having this exact problem with my QX4, only mine is on the passenger side. Is the reset switch located under the drivers switch bank the only one in the car? Or is there one on the passenger side? Easy to access if there is one on the passnger side?

Thanks

BTW mine an 01 QX4

I'm guessing (99%) that there is a switch in each door. The problem comes up mostly on the driver's side. Makes sense, as that is the window used most often. It's late here now, but tomorrow morning I'll go out and pop off the switch bank on the passenger side and have a look. Takes 30 seconds.I'll let you know.

Just had a quick look and the reset button is exactly where it should be, under the switch bank assembly (passenger side). Use a long, wide, flat head screwdriver to pop the switch bank. It's a small black push button, just behind the clear (in my truck anyway) plastic door liner. It's about 4 inches down from armrest level. Can't miss it.Good luck.Yeah, Go Sens Go. Leafs suck.

Just went and popped off the switches bein super careful not to break any clips, only thing that I see that cane be a switch, is a small black rubber piece about 3" down

BUT

Its coverred my the metal black door skin/ inner skeleton, it looks like its already being depressed by that metal doorskin, how am i supposed to push it?

I came back in the check the sequence, Im probly gonna go out and bend that piece of metal away from it and c what i can do, if it dont work I'll take a pic.

Yup that was the switch, had to pry the metal door skin back a 1/4" to be able to depress it. Did the sequence twice and it worked mint, hope it stays fixed.

Thanks alot guys

Well, you'll never guess what happened on my way to the power window switch assembly....my window started doing the 4" drop again. Coincidence or what?Kinda funny actually. I'll reset it this weekend. Good thing it's an easy fix.

i don't think i've got the same problem as above... but hoping for some troubleshooting help?
up until a couple days ago, all switches on all doors worked fine (locks and windows)
now all do not work at all (windows or door lock)- with the exception of front passenger window can occasionally go down but not up.
(so gradually i have been lowering this for unfortunately!)
before i try to pop off a switch panel to attempt a re-set,
any info/advice is much appreciated!
(i've checked fuses... but no window fuses.
1998 Pathfinder (only 50K miles!)
thanks again
