I just turned 16 and have been working at a local bar and grill at 7.25 an hour since feb. of 08. my dad paid for half of my car (1,250) and i paid the other half from selling my 03 honda xr80r dirtbike and using savings. i work about 20 hours a week and my insurance is through state farm roughly 250 every 3 months so about 1000 a year for just liability. i do little cash jobs like yard work every now and then and i also buy used car stereo equipment and resell and install the easy stuff for my friends for decent prices and i do a good job i think. Nothing serious done to my car besides all new stereo stuff and s14 seats. and regluar tune ups.

Im still trying to figure out how everyone in here has so much money for a car. Ive been working since i was 15 and full time for the last 3 years. I worked construction over last summer which barely bought me megan coilovers. Now i work 45 a week at a body shop and can barely afford small upgrades. I may be able to buy an sr20det in like 5 years. I wish i lived in california where everyone is loaded and drives badass cars. Wait never mind California is mad lame

Yesitisi Your a logger, Sweet! I also enjoy tree fires doesnt help my car funds though.

I had my car when I was 17. Saved up various amounts through the years, got $3000 from my parents as a gift of inheritence from my grandfather the passed away. Saved that and invested it, all that jazz. Now im 19 work at Macy's part time. spend most of my money on other stuff besides my car. I believe my insurance is $1200 a year.

I'm a chick so my insurance is pretty cheap, 89 240sx about $50-$60 Geico liability/uninsured motorists. I'm 21 now, but its been the same for a while.

In high school I worked at various hobby shops $6.50/hr + got money working on customer's RC trucks. Just worked and saved, worked and saved; wasn't too into cars at the time and didn't have bills to pay so I bought myself a $4k video camera and started a business. Would get about $400 per 2-3 minute video, and about $200 over my costs on event DVD sales. That only happened a few times, then I had to stop traveling so much.

Now I work at Office Max as a desktop publisher/graphic designer ($7/hr since I can't work full 40hr week and be a supervisor, f'd up huh? Plus the silly little 'spiffs' and other incentives OM gives). Still have my business, but take more photos than video now and still don't have time to travel much. Just pay the bills, keep the upkeep on my daily cars, and put the rest of the $ into my drift 240sx.

Try to see what skills you have and try to get a job using them first, if not work wherever you can without going insane. If you are spending money on your car...make sure to do it only once and get good parts the first time.

I'm 18, I worked at Ford (I know, I know) for over a year, and Canadian Tire for 2 years. My insurance for a '92 240 is $159/month through belair direct.

I'm considering selling organs. or crack.

Yeah here in Astoria and cant wait to go somewhere else haha..

I just work my *** off going to school and doing 40+ hours a week and save every penny. Dont buy clothes, food or movie tickets. Thats the way I do it and its working out pretty well for me.
