Hey guys,

I have had a world of fun trying to accurately track down information to get myself a custom drive shaft made and thought I would pass on the savings to you guys:

Some background: I am working on completing another of the most awesome thing you can do for your G50 Q45: the manual transmission swap! I have a few things left to do and will probably do a post about it if people are interested.
(Wes - thanks again for the plate!)

The swap itself has been done before, and between Wes' and subtle_driver's posts, enough info to get you going is available - except for when it comes time for you to install your drive shaft.

subtle_driver's swap post

Wes had his lengthened, so he didn't have to deal with finding new parts so much, and subtle_driver seems to have found a shop that didn't make him do so much homework, but a good drive line shop in NYC is hard to come by apparently. I went to a couple and some were sketchier than others, so a friend referred me to somewhere he is using for his 2JZ-powered BMW E36 convertible.

ANYWAY! = If you need to find the slip yoke info for a Z32's 5-speed (or for that matter, the same part should fit the autotragic if need)

Powertrain Industries P/N: 3103-30 || Spicer P/N: 2-3-12461X (Part number to work with 1310 U-Joints!)
Spline Count: 28/30 | Major Spline Diameter: 1.281 | C/L to END: 6.266 | Ground Hub Diameter: 1.656

Info for the Q45's Yoke Flange (Differential Flange)

Powertrain Industries P/N: 3102-69 (Will let you know any other PNs as I get them...)
Bolt Circle: 3.750 | Pilot Diamater: 1.967 | Length: 1.750 | Holes: 4 @ 0.475

With this information, your drive shaft shop of your choice should be able to track down the parts and make you what you need. According to what I hear around the place though, you have to make sure your shop is able to balance with that tail yoke flange though. Ask your shop questions, and if you don't feel confident with them, walk away and find another! First shop didn't ask me for much info but wanted $600 for the job. It felt like murder, they didn't give me any confidence, and asking around I got mixed reviews of the shop, so I walked!

Happy hunting, and hope this helps someone else work a little bit less!

Thanks a lot for the info, that should help!

One of our sponsors, shaftmasters, will make custom driveshafts. All you have to do is tell them what ends you want on it and things like that... I sent my driveshaft to them to have it rebuilt (new U joints and a re-balance), and they did a fantastic job.

Awesome info!! I've been seriously considering the manual swap, but it will be a while before i get to it. This will help when the time comes.

I had planned on talking to the guys at The Driveshaft Shop here in NC. They're very reputable and down around Mooresville, which is Race Car Country. I'm currently running their 1pc Aluminum DS in my SR'd 240sx. It made a huge difference in response over the heavy OE 2pc. I can only imagine how nice it would be in the Q.
