When first learning, a good technique is the counter or feint...unlike the ebrake where there are alot of way to jack up your slide the feint can easily acheive a drift everytime. As long as you have enough speed just turn the wheel for a quick flash opposite the direction you are going and swing back, the weight will roll, get on the accelerator and follow through, and counter steer as your *** end slides out, stay on the throttle till you are straight again then off the gas a bit to get traction again (if you want it) and prepare for the next turn...well this is how I started at least...to each his own..like mentioned earlier get drift bible..or ride with someone who has some experience and have him show you what to expect,,that is the best and will keep your from sliding into walls, curbs, or whatever track boundarys there are

first thing first, the twin turbo axles wont fit, you need the n/a rear axles to fit them into the S chassis, secondly, they are vlsd, not a good starting point, especially for 450, just save up and get a real clutch type.

as for the 2way 1.5 way thing, it isnt a beginner thing to get either one, just a preference. whats the point of dropping 750 to begin with just to jump up to a 2 way later on and drop another 1000 when it wont make a huge difference. its like buying spring/shocks just to start with then jumping into coilovers, waste of money. Unless you are talking about grip driving, then 2 way is not my suggestion. The nismo ones in the US suck, jdm ones rock, dont get the US one, get kaaz if you need one on the cheap.

you don't really "jump up to" a 2 way. It's not really better or worse than 1.5 way, just different. A 1.5 way is good for begginer or advanced drifters, it doesn't matter. Its just that a 2 way creates more understeer so if you are a beginner you don't want that, it will make it too hard for you to drift. A 1.5 way therefore makes it easier for beginners, but is fine for pro's too, it doesn't matter.

The US Nismo works great for me. Strong locking, still hasn't worn out after 1 year, and good feel. I don't understand whats wrong with it, and it certainly doesn't suck, lots of people use it. I've also never seen KAAZ LSD's for as cheap as the Nismo one is. And how do you know so much about how good one LSD is to another, JDM to US nismo, KAAZ etc. Yet you just have a welded diff in your car.

fair enough on my welded lsd, what i stated is what others impressions were of the US nismo lsd, the story goes that it is just a repackaged Z31 clutch type lsd, which is a 1.5 way stock lsd, something like putting a 800 dollar stock lsd into your car. i've heard of it being low on clutches, small clutches due to its oem nature , and overheating more easily than most aftermarket lsd due to the lack of number and size of clutches. if its true, then not worth it, but from what you say, it might be a good idea, you have better experience being its first hand, and a more credible source. I guess saying it sucks was a bad choice of words, i should have said that i do not recommend it due to my secondhand knowledge.

I am mostly sharing my experiences with my friends cars, the older nismo SSS lsds in a friends S13, an ats deftfore lsd in another, a cusco in a S13 and FC, a new nismo GT at a friends shop, a buch of kaaz since they are cheapest in the aftermarket, yet none carry the US nismo LSD. I have only read reviews on the us nismo item, not experienced it myself. The reviews were what i shared with you, an unagressive lsd that can overheat when overexerted. Second hand knowledge, you beat me out there, but from my first hand experiences, there are other lsds that i would purchase with my money which may or may not work better, a testament to doing ones own research. How many other lsds had your tried before buying your nismo? Its just that for about 150-300 dollars more, there are other lsds with more athletic appeal i guess. Not a knock on you, just another view.

The 2 way 1.5 way thing is just like i said, basically what you restated, neither is better than another, you will learn to deal with the extra understeer if you have a 2 way, there has never been anyone saying that drifting is harder or easier with either one, just personal preference.

ive got the Nismo 2 Way in my car and after a year of using it, it clunks and has alot of free play in it. Its probably time for a rebuild now and thats with taking care of it by changing fluid every 3k miles. I would say to go with a different diff then a Nismo 2 way. The Nismo 2 Way only has 8 clutch disks (i think) compared to say Kaaz having 16 clutch disks. Nismo is weak compared to the other companys.

I havnt had a problem driving my 2 way as far as understeer Only time ive experienced strong understeer with it was a hard turn in the rain and snow. In the dry it has a slight bit of understeer but its not bad at all. It does chirp the **** out of the tires making tight turns in parking lots.

Im probably gonna get a Kaaz diff next because they claim there diffs can last for 100,000 drift abused miles before needing a rebuild as long as the fluid is replaced with each oil change.
