quick question. i have a s14 with stock brakes. which pads should i be running to lock the ebrake good for drifting? i adjusted the cable already and still not locking.. ive heard project mu bforce pads r best but oem nissans work good too.jus looking for some efficient setups

Umm I would think that as long as they are not $20 pads, they're warm, and you are pushing the clutch while pulling the brake, there shouldn't ne a problem. Just keep it to the track. Empty parking lots are also exceptable.

Project Mu D1 Spec pads... However, they're not recommended for street use. Hawk carbon pads work great as well. Another thing you might want to try is get new ebrake cables. Old ones are probably stretched pretty bad.

yea im stepn on the clutch wen i pull it.but they do nothing..im useing the car for daily so i dnt want the pads that r gonna wear fast... i heard hawks dnt work until there hot tho

i say try those EBC red,yellow, or green pads.

yea i mean i have hawks on my civic and there great but i kinda want something that i can just go into a parking lot n jus grab n slide ..with no warm up..i get oem at a discount.nobody knows if they grab good? some searches said they did but not much detail into it..i havent heard too much good from ebc tho.in terms of quality

do a little searching for reviews on them, theres plenty of good review out there on them. on my fc i have endless pads and it was awesome with them

You need to readjust your cable then... or your is stretching very badly... your pads are not the issue unless they are worn metal to metal. I could lock mine even when they were down to metal on metal. My e-brake never quit having lockability.

Well i got Stock oem pads on mine and they work great. You will prob have to tighten the 10 mil nut on your handbreak but dont go crazy if you tighten it to much you will rub in the rear. I tightened mine and I can pull it up and the rear end whips right out just tighten the nut yo!

lmao.^^ mayb they are stretching.ima go price some at work 2mrw(dealer).pads got meat but jus not the slighest sqeak.i adjusted it 3 times to oem spec.its very tight

Make sure the calipers are squeezing too as if 1 is locked up or something. Have someone pull the brake and see how easily they move back and forth

I have hawk pads front and rear on my 240. Its true that they need to be warm to be good, but after 2 or 3 moderate stops, they grab pretty good for street pads.. and they are lasting very long for me.

The cheaper the rear pads the better. s*** pads have great initial bite but fade super quick. Thats exactly what you want for ebrakes. While all the hawk and Project mu pads will work decent, you will find that 18 dollar autozone pads work best. Scuff the rotors and your good

I have unknown pads on my car and can hardly lock the tires in a straight line. However, when Im drifting a little flick before you yank it and it drifts fine.

But like others said, you can usually get around using the ebrake. Clutch kicking to initiate or foot braking to scrub speed works good too. Everyone has a different style.

clutch kick and shift locking work great :) or you could turn in, then counter turn, pull the ebrake, then "power over", as bow wow says in tokyo drift!

hahahahaha... i do clutch kick. but some times i am traveling to fast. id like a working eb anyway.ima check calipers too..i did scuff the pads already.stops better.no eb still

only use the e-brake to ELONGATE a drift or to scrub speed during a drift by braking w/o shortening your turning arc. When your already drifting the ebrake is super easy to lock. Its near impossible to lock any cable e-brake going in a straight line in full grip. if you have to use it to intiate use it at turn in with a hard flick of the steering and it'll lock easily. but it's hard to control an e-brake intiation from their on because the transition back into throttle is very tricky and the whole thing becomes unpredictable. Unpredictability while drifting = crash. So I avoid e-brake initiation at all costs.

good tip.thanx.. but seems thats there only a total of 4 ebrake cables left and then they are no longer made.and the inital cable is already stoped production..thats coming from the dealer were i work.nj so were is everyone spose to find eb cables now? lol

also pls keep in mind my s13 ppl.i have a s14 with no drum ebrakes..i know s13s easly have good eb drifts but somthing wit this design sucks

It uses the same caliper, same setup.

Im hoping you just got mixxed up with the z32 rear brakes

Any time your rear caliper has two pistons(one on each side of the rotor) It will almost always use the drum style eb, If you only have one piston back there, the eb is usually incorporated into the caliper.

ooo ok wen i searched this topic .they made it sound lyk s13's have drum parking brakes inside of the rotor.idk cuz i nvr had one or worked on one ..
