4 cylinder=you win, 6 cylinder auto, you could still take that, his car is pretty heavy. If he's a big fat guy and your like 125 pounds, even better hehe. The truck i think you could take by the time you hit 90 or so.

sorry when he said 2500 i was thinking something small like an S10 with a 302. Right you would definately eat most big trucks alive... I took out a Hemi Dodge at the track when my 240 was stock...

take a full size truck by 90 you are on crack, i smoke short bed single cab duramaxs, f250 and 350's give a little more trouble but i have a sohc here and i have had several chevy and ford trucks try racing me and the only one that started pulling on the highway was an f350 and he had to be chipped because it was pouring out black smoke you should be a car length or more per gear easily.

none of you know what you are talking about grand am are as slow as my grandmas buick and 2500 pickups run like 18s 240's are in a much better class than any of these. if you do lose you should go home and do a complete tune up because something is wrong if you lose again you might want to consider a motor swap or some driving classes or both

IM going to have to agree with 89s13Silvia the truks suck their like the slowest thing i have ever drivin, but can hull sh*t, my Dads got one.... and my friends moms has a 2001 Grand AM GT 6Cylinder and i killed him from a stop (and i was spinning) and a 40 roll on the interstate. and my car is stock with a newer motor with low miles but my car pulls harder then any other stock 240 around here.. so if ur a good driver like everyone eles has said u should get them both un less ur car has a problem or u cant drive? i dunno i guess well find out!

Gotta agree with Rob here... but I would like to say that: So what if it runs 15's......way to go, my 240 N/A ran low 15's whoopity doo. S13's with the DE N/A can run 15's easily as a lot of people on this board have proven.

well a friend of mine has a 99 eclipse RS and beats the 93 24o SE everytime, and both drivers are damn good, but as soon as hte KA reaches 55oo rpm it dies, and the eclipse pulls like hell all the way to 7k

So........your point? On multiple DSM forums there are tales of "factory freak" RS's. But this is really nothing more than paper racing. I was just referring to the other post about 240's not running 15's. BTW: Sorry about your friend losing to the RS, hasn't happened to me. ;)

I donno bout all you guys, but I wanna know what happened :)

My GF's mom has a Grand am GT 2001. Auto. I think it is plenty fast for take off, (faster than my KA 240) but it dies off at above 65ish, or so it seems. This is from experience, so dont call me a liar. The 240 seems to keep excelerating past 65 fer awhile, even stock, so I'd say the GT Might beat you, but I've never raced one, SO I cannot, and will not tell you what will happen, cuz I cant :D

but good luck if ya havent already raced him :)

The celica is very light... like 2,200 lbs if i remember right... and for the record I ran 15.9 with my 240 with crappy tires and an LSD... I was getting 2.2 short times...

With my SR and the same crappy tires i can pull a 2.1 short time...

95 Celica's are the ones that look like larger Integra's the NEW ones weigh 2200ish pounds, but the old ones were heftier if I remember right. I am not saying that you can or cannot beat him, that is more or less paper racing and we all should know now that comparing numbers is stupid and pointless. I will say however that KAE's are significantly slower(IN MY OWN EXPERIENCE) than a DE so you cannot accurately compare what a DE would be able to "beat" as compared to a E. However, you would be surprised how much of a difference a good RWD launch will make as compared to FWD. ;)

Celica's arent as light as u think and with his auto, you got him. Also, the eclipse RS was BASE model (power nothing) whlie the 93 SE had leather and all, so the weight would make up a considerable difference. And one thing i noticed is that the shift throws in the 24o were MUCH longer than the eclipse

the 240 and the rs weigh is about the same the rs might be 100 lb lighter but thats not a big enuff weight dif to make up for that much hp dif but considering the eclipse was a 99 and the 240 was a 93 maby the 240 wasent runing up to par or not bing driven rite

well i can vouch that it had a good driver, and it seemed to pull pretty hard as usual, but we're going to check her out properly when we get some time, she just didnt have good power high in the rev band at ALL, which of course is a characteristic of 24o's, but i didnt know it was that bad. Also, teh eclipse didnt have hardly any wheelspin at launch, i think the skunk2 springs actually helped a bit
