Has anyone ever heard of any possible kits ( that would require customization, of course) of a double wishbone system to replace the front suspension on a 240sx. I've done some research and have yet to uncover anything. If not, me and a friend of mine who builds mini trucks and is very good with suspension geometry are considering working up a prototype. By the way, he is a mechanical engineering grad and I'm currently a mechanical engineering student, so no, this isn't just some half-baked idea. If anyone knows anything or has any suggestions (we haven't officially drawn anything up yet), or any idea if their would be much interest in the kit, please let me know.

Thanks everyone.

I have to ask why.

The benefits of double wishbone are nice, but a McPherson can handle almost as good with the proper off the shelf parts and a good alignment. I cant imagine there will be too much interest in a kit, most people who would be considering a double wishbone conversion would most likely be basing it off a tube frame front end, either that or they would be purpose building it for their own needs.

The only major benefit I've seen of people converting to a double wishbone setup on an S-chassis was to try and get an AWD setup going. The Z and Skylines used a double wishbone style setup up front. Doing it on a 240 just to do it would be more for the "nifty" factor than a practical one. You can save yourself the money and buy a nice set of KTS coilovers, and some adjustable suspension links and achieve exactly what you want. Heck you can save the money on the adjustable links and get what you want.

As far as why, it's mostly for that little extra adjustability and control from the double wishbone, as well as a possible AWD situation later. I know that it's a bit extreme and some would say a bit unnecessary, but it would mostly be for either custom set ups that may require a double wishbone or for someone that feels that they've just pushed their McPherson set up to the limit. You said it yourself Sideways, McPherson is ALMOST as good. I appreciate everyone's input, please keep'em coming.

mac strut really doesnt compare, the camber curve of double wishbone is so far superior

check out full race's r14, the s14 with a full gt-r driveline swap, including front subframe and suspension, exactly what youre talking about
