That sounds good... Do you think if I order this stuff, you can perhaps help me? I can meet you or you can meet me?ImStricken wrote:Hey guys!! Sorry im in brooklyn for the weekend.
OP please rethink this! You can order clear vinyl from Rvinyl.com who is a nyc seller and ask him for the pices to be cut. Simply measure the pieces you need.
Application is easy. Use a water/soap solution to spray on the pieces and area you wanna apply and squeegy on the vinyl. Squeegy out the soapy water and let dry.
I did this on my rear bumper with a 12"x4" of clear vinyl to protect my car when i attach the trailer.
I guess I'm just worried about how well it will turn out if I do it. You obviously think getting this RVynil stuff and applying it myself is better than spending $120 for 3M stuff to get installed professionally, so I guess I'll do it. I'll measure the door sills tonight and get call RVynil on Monday. I'll cancel my appt. for Monday for the 3M stuff...ImStricken wrote:I could do a video for you. I promise you its super easy.
You will need an empty spray bottle(dollar store)
Two table spoons of dishwashing soap and water in your bottle.
The vinyl is to be sprayed and your work area.(cleaned well prior)
Place the vinyl on your work area and use a card squeegy to work out the soapy water.
The soapy water will prevent air bubbles to be stuck.
I would help but honestly i have a torn left shoulder and its hard for me to work on cars. i cant even change my oil
Well, that's the thing... The door "sill" actually goes the whole length of each side... And it doesn't actually stop at each door, so I was asking if I should get one piece for each side, or basically one piece for the length of each door sill which would mean 2 pieces per side that meet in the middle?ImStricken wrote:Id buy one piece and try 1 door. If you screw it up, or cant do it then only a few dollars spent.
But if you do well, order the rest of the doors and do them
well since the door seal, doesn't go the whole span of the rocker-panel, there really is no reason to apply clear vinyl through the whole panel.followingnfront wrote:Well, that's the thing... *I'm not sure if you understood my question before but if you did I apologize for stating it again*.
If I do it door by door, It won't be as clean of a look because I'd have 2 pieces meeting in the middle on either side (A minor issue I suppose as you don't drive around with your doors open) and if I do it 1 piece per side it will be a cleaner look, but it may be harder to actually install because I'd be working with longer pieces.
*BTW thanks for checking out my thread and responding so quickly!
Good call, I'll do it that way. Thank youImStricken wrote: well since the door seal, doesn't go the whole span of the rocker-panel, there really is no reason to apply clear vinyl through the whole panel.
id simply measure the area that comes in contact with door seal, and only wrap that area. so id suggest 4 different pieces
Good find. Thanks! I haven't measured the door sills yet, I'm going to go down to the car and measure it in a little bit. Then I will call R-Vynil and tell them you sent meImStricken wrote:good video i just found

i msg'd the owner to see what the deal is.followingnfront wrote:Hey I'm stricken... Was there someone in particular I was supposed to speak to? I called today and spoke to a lady and I explained that I needed two 1-1/2" x 41" strips for the fronts and two 1-1/2" x 24" strips for the rears... She told me to hold so she could ask her supervisor if that was possible, and then she came back on and said, "I'm sorry sir, but you can only get the sizes found on our website"...
I think its more than a quarter inch... I believe its 3/4" so its safest to go with 1" wide vinyl (or whatever you use)Qashqai wrote:The affected area is only quarter inch. Two years ago I get some price quotes from local vinyl/clear bra companies. They were about $90-120. I decided to use a high-quality 3M electric tape! I know it sounds stupid, but it works great. I check the tape every 6-7 months and it is not damaging the paint. Since my Rogue is dark gray, black looks good as well.
Thank you sir! I want to change my measurements to 1" x 41" (front) and 1" x 24" (rear) as I think 1.5" may be wider than needed. What do you think?ImStricken wrote:i msg'd the owner to see what the deal is.followingnfront wrote:Hey I'm stricken... Was there someone in particular I was supposed to speak to? Ok thanks... To me, the scariest thing about fine-tuning a cut while the vinyl is actualy on the car, is the thought that I may cut too deep and scratch the paint... So I'll measure/cut the vinyl before I start applying it I guess.ImStricken wrote:when you apply this film, it becomes invisible- so you dont have to worry about cutting it 100% straight. see the measurements he is offering on his site, and order what the closest size to you is.
done fine tune any cut when on the car lol. just use a razor blade and a straight ruler to do your cuts, THEN apply and the vinyl will disappear once applied. i promise you.followingnfront wrote:Ok thanks... nope, the soap solution will do you well. i WOULD get the squeegee with friction sleeve. i have saved those two and used them on every sticker i apply. i used them to apply my tint toofollowingnfront wrote:ok cool... Should I buy any of their accessories with it? I am going to get the squeegee with friction sleeve. Should I get either of the other products? The "Rapid Tack" or "Rapid Clear" for instance? The soap and water pretty much does what those things do right?
Cool! Thanks Im going to order it now.ImStricken wrote:nope, the soap solution will do you well. i WOULD get the squeegee with friction sleeve. i have saved those two and used them on every sticker i apply. i used them to apply my tint toofollowingnfront wrote:ok cool...
