unlike most of you, i am a visual learner so here is what i was up to during this cold winter day:
First off, i used this very handy thread on q45.org ---------> http://www.q45.org/timers.html
Then i looked at this picture to figure out exactly where the door lock timer is located:
(this is close where ours are located but still closer to the firewall)

Then the teardown:
You must remove the 6 bolts underneath the steering wheel. and the 4 bolts covering the cluster

better view:

this is what it looks like looking from underneath the steering wheel:

move the steering module and the other module out of the way by unbolting it:

closer look:

when you move the modules out of the way you see this brown connection in the middle of the picture. Next to it is our door lock timer:

WHY HELLO THERE! that grey thing is our door lock timer. it is held on by 1 bolt in conjunction with the brown connection:

going back to view it from the steering wheel. this time i pointed a light at it to make it move visible:
(ignore the shiny metal object in the lower left side)

close up:

remove that 1 bolt i holding on to the bracket and these two come out:

voila! part number#: 28451 C9977 for 1996 Infiniti J30t with the blue tag

use a flathead to remove the two grey tabs holding the circuit board:

NOW the only thing i have to decide now is whether i should replace the timer OR resolder the connections. So far upon inspection of the connections i see nothing wrong
I hope this helps some people who are impatient like myself with reading. im all about the pictures and visuals
Ill keep you guys updated with the progress....
