That's a sticky from the Nissan Online Mechanic forum, and it can help you diagnose/solve a lot of different driveability problems.
Questions like this usually get better answers in the Online Mechanic forum, since that is where the real mechanics are. The KA forum is more for people with questions regarding performance, not maintenance.
TXCumtrensh, are you talking about the AIV that sits behind the airbox next to the header? (The AIR valve may be something totally different, but I have never heard of it.) That can get clogged and cleaning or removing it will fix it, but that doesn't cause your idle to stay around 1500 then drop. Mine does the same thing you are describing, and I just thought it was normal. When I press the clutch it kinda hovers around 1k for a second then drops back to 700 or so. I thought it didnt happen with the auto because there was no clutch engaging/disengaging, so it was just something that came with a manual transmission. My mom's Saab (EJ20) does the same thing, so like I said Im assuming its normal.
