Dome light does not work when doors are open

Hello sorry for posting this question twice. One in an earlier post and now, but there seems to be a problem in trying to view the origianl post. When tried in any browser the forum screen is shaded with small black squares like a grid. You can tell there is writing there but just cant make out what it is.

My question was I am having trouble with the dome lights in my Altima 2001 LE. When I first got the car whenever I would open the door the dome lights 2 of them would come on and after closing the door they would stay on for a few seconds then dim out. Nice. But for some unexplicable, magic, sudden, not so obvious reason it stopped doing that. The dome lights still work just fine, but I have to click the two switches one right one left for each light to the on postion and the dome light come on.

Another poster suggested that the switches have 3 positions(on, middle,off) and prohaps I had turned the 2 switches to off instead of the middle postion. I checked this and neither of the two switches has a middle postion. Only on and off. So i am at a loss, because it seems to me for no reason unless I did something not obvious it is changed.

Another idea was the contacts at the doors might be stuck or bad, but this happens no matter wich door I open. So I dont think all of the contacts could go bad at exaclty the same time.

Anyone have a clue or experienced this?
