Not to get off in a rant but what is with the eclipses, It seems like if its not a civic its a eclipse, what the hell, yeah I'd rather see an eclipse all modded out before a civic, but the problem is that everyone has got the damn thins they are like camaros transams and mustangs, everyone and there granddad have one and they think they are all bad azz after a new muffler, and a body kit. where as I can beat most of them with my dads 91 crown victoria, whats the point, why did fast and the furious have to come out and exploit imports, I wish no one knew of them so that they would be more rare.

eclipses have evolved into a Niche car, they've moved away from being a sport import and thats why they're everywhere. They have a "cool" status that makes them hold appeal to more than just import people, also because they are a DSM theres a ton more of them, same with talons and what not.

I think there very nice cars, in the AWD form, i like talons, more then eclipses, but would never buy one now, i think they have to many tech problems.

Ok, shutup. Sure, the fast and the furious did dramatize the import community, and it led to tricking out an import becoming the "in" thing to do, but it was a freakin' movie, that's it. The producers made the movie to entertain people and to make money, and they did both of those very well. Personally, I think that beyond the "I live my life a quarter mile at a time" bull**** it was a pretty well made, entertaining movie, but no more than that. Stop blaming everything on the movie.

Anyway, would you rather have more people buying 240sx's, or celicas, or 300zx's; taking up cars that would otherwise be bought by someone who would actually want to increase the performance?

Anyway, if someone wants to buy a car because it is economic, fun to drive, and has decent aesthetics they have every right to do so. Their lack of the drive to make the car a perfect performer is, in the realm of all, unimportant. Get over it, and get back to kicking their asses.

Lastly, it's just a freakin' car! No matter how far we dealve into the particulars, the interesting dynamics of imports, they are just freakin' modes of transportation. Sure, a certain level of euphoria can be felt when drifting through turns on a deserted highway with a friend or two, trusting your life to the automobile that you've spend countless hours and dollars on, but, in the end, it's just a freakin' CAR!!!

Lighten up.

You've GOT to be finger fuc#ing me!!!

I agree with most of your post, but this just blew my mind. In what way could you possibly say it was a well made movie? or entertaining?

I've seen better plot development in a three cell Garfield comic. The characters were one dimensional at best, and the acting was atrocious. The only redeeming value in the movie was some unique cinematography techniques. It was the most God-aweful abomination of a movie since Days of Thunder.... and that's not being very fair to Days of Thunder.

come on nebraska, please don't hate on us dsm'rs. we have a lot of respect for the 240 community as a whole. I am a former 240 owner and absolutely loved that car, I switched to a dsm b/c of 2 reasons. 1. all wheel drive, no matter how much power I push I never have to worry about traction.2.strong block; no matter what you argue about reliability, the 4g63t block is very strong, it can handle well over 400hp and 20psi on a very large turbo (ie forced performance green, red;agp l2r, l3r)......so please don't start a hate war over whose chassis is better or whose block is stronger; and don't bash on an entire community just because you have had a couple of bad experiences. yes the dsm community is strong, please feel free to check our forums at http://www.dsmtalk.com just to see how strong, you may be surprised.

you would be correct sir, Diamond Star Motors actually refers to the plant where these fine vehicles were produced, right here in the USA

I would be the first one to agree that dsm's are not very reliable (especially when modded), but with only a few thousand invested, anyone can see 12's and possibly 11's. yeah, a lot of people have them but that just shows how impressive these cars can be. feel free to check out http://www.dsmtimes.org as well just to see some of the numbers these cars can pull.:D

but I'll be honest with you, I loved my 240 and I'd take it back anyday:ylsuper

I don't hate cars I hate stupid drivers. I was going to get a CRX because they are a ball to drive and pretty quick but I didn't want to be associated with the gaggle of goofs that slap a muffler on one and now think they are John Force.Don't see many Mitsus here mainly Lancers of two varieties; limping like a broke dog and ungodly quick beasts you don't mess with. So far I'm 1-1.Roll what you like but respect other's tastes.

And nobody has mentioned that the Puke Green Mitsu wasn't even turbo, all the blow off and boost noises were dubbed in.

True, kind of makes me wish I knew **** about domestics. But is it just me, or was anyone else pissed off that the skyline wasn't in ONE race in the whole movie?

Don't worry, based on the preview pics i saw, im guessing there will be many skylines and prob 240s this time around. Get ready for the 240 to join the rice and the ridiculous crowd. Although, from a ricers point of view, im guessing the S14's will be more popular (yay to me hehehe)

Luke-yeah, that's the fear that I have. I'm worried that, before I can exchange my Jetta for a 240 in a couple of months, the three or four well running cheap 240's in my area will have been bought because of the popularity they are gaining among ricers.

MaineImport:

I wasn't claiming that the movie was of any substance, or could be compared to movies of the caliber of "Saving Private Ryan", "The Shawshank Redemption", or even "Farris Bueler's Day Off" (a hysterical movie in my opinion), but when shown in the same light as the more recent wave of flicks, such monstrosities as "Pearl Harbor", "Not Another Teen Movie" and it's sequel, and "Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigalo", "The Fast and the Furious" sets itself apart as uniquely watchable. The plotline, though thin, was not so overcomplicated and hectic (PH) to make it a pain to watch, the characters had some depth, although simple and overdramatized, and, once the viewer realizes that the director had to depart from the reality of import tuning to make the movie entertaining to a large audience, the movie was, at least, bareable, something not so common among contemporary films.

If you watch the movie not as a tuner, just as someone wanting an entertaining (if shallow) film, it becomes a much better alternative than most in it's category.

It also proves to be a hilarious movie to watch at parties when you're drunk.

I guess you're right. Maybe it becomes a representation of who you are. Good point.

The Zen Buddhists believe that you should never let material possessions control you, that's all I'm saying. I don't know, I guess it's all a balance, caring about something but not let that caring depress you into missing out on things. In other words, don't let the eclipse fools ever get ya down.

I don't know, just rambling...

ahh...whatever...

Face it, you are a wuss.

Also, Zen Buddhists don't believe in materialism, the pursuit of physical objects to display ones wealth. They do however believe strongly in the symbolic nature of things, which, a car is an extension of your persona, it can represent something spiritual or something materialistic dependant upon it's owner, as with everything in life it's based on your perspective to the actual event. : ) You should read Nietzsche, I greatly prefer his works.

i try to get to the strip in kearney when I can, and I don't hate eclipses, its just they are over rated, losing value and every kid in high school has them, and My stock 240 has beaten stock gsx's easily, I have yet to race a gst, and the only thing i have been smoked by is a supra, some z28's have gotten a nose length one me, but nothing embarrsing, but most ppl who have eclipses only andd a muffler intake and a body kit and call it fast, how discraceful!!!
