There u go.... for a hella nice CA18 example ^^^
2871r as it made great power on my friend Jeremy's SR and nasty power with a pair on my friend Chris's Z32. Thats 2 people that have had great results
and neither of them is a ca18, so what use is that ? There r a few "2871" sizes also, to add confusion
Enough 2871/ca18 examples on the net, to be making wild guesses imo..... but, it's your money.

"Great results" u can find almost anywhere. Here is an example;
Mitsu clubmember built an ol 2.4 block, slapped on a bone stock hyundai $30(u-pull-it) head, then knocked up a manifold for two ebay $170 T3 turbos. Tuned & immediately dyno'd 564hp atw. 700+ only a camshaft swap away.
I'm sure he's not invested even close to half of that Z32, and winds up with a more compact 4cyl torquey beast
My point being...... take advantage of the info our fellow CA18 enthusiasts shared
BTW, Im not using the stock manifold
if "response" is paramount, that may hurt you (IF its a shiney china job you're using). Look at pic above: hint

I understand that the 2 examples I gave were not CA's but your missing my point. Im saying that on 2 different occasions the 2871 performed well and I like the results and so did the owners, whether in an sr turning one or a vg turning 2. the boost response wasnt too shabby on the vg either seeing as how it only has 1500cc blowing into each turbo vs an sr's 2000cc blowing in one. Im more than aware that many other people have had great results with 10,000 different combinations and Im happy for them. And I am aware of the different 2871 sizes. These happened to be the 2871r-15 which is the t2, .64, gt28rs upgrade. The part number is 2871-472560-15 which is what I have, same as the previous 2 people I listed that used this turbo.

SO you have the 52trim 0.64A/R which is the pick of the three (48, 52, 56) and have the same CHRA that HKS use in their GT-RS

well the 472560-15 lists as a 52 trim which is what I purchassed from FRSport.com Now i havnt removed the housing and measured the wheel so I can divide the inducer (squared) by the exducer (squared) and multiply by 100 but Im going to trust that my 2871-472560-15 is a 52 trim. Now if i bought a 2871-743347-2 then id have a 56 trim. The 2871-743347-1 is the 48. Yes I know there are a few 2871's and I know which ones were used and which one was recomended to me by both users. All I asked for was if anyone had any dyno results from using this turbo. Since neither person I know is using this turbo on a CA, id like to know what people with CA's are doing with this. Im set on running this turbo and sure I'll be content with it's performance but I asked since I cant exactly go dyno my car right now but would like to know what I have to look forward too.

That's the same part number as what mine is which is the graph above. Really though to get the most out of this turbo you need cams so the graph gives you an indication but doesn't tell the whole story (also that graph was on a very hot day 36C about 97F).

Cams and intake (with tuning ofcourse) with that setup would easily yield another 50whp. The UK guys seem to all agree that over 300whp and the stock cams and intake start to really hold you back a lot. You can still make power with them, but you could make a lot more if they're changed.

well im either gonna get the cpc intake or build my own. I have access to all the 6061 alluminum i want for free and a tig welder with nothing but time and access to a flow bench so ill figure something out. im really just focused on my bottom end coz without a lower deck any intake is useless and im not gonna reuse my stock rods/pistons ect. maybe in my other CA but not this one, then ill just have to find a shell for it... or my sr or one of my 2 rb25's

Several CA18s approaching 400hp on stock cams and stock intake, both 4 and 8 port
Cams open the door to beyond 400, but definitely don't need an intake.
EZ way to see if any intake swap is beneficial, is to dyno a back to back torque overlay - wait for it. - lol

simple ca18 on sxoc; bone stock 4port motor, $200 ebay t3/t4 and nitune = 350hp
Didn't that monster 9sec ca18det ute run a stock intake ? What about boost_boy 500hp street 8-port build ?
Lots of other impressive (4&8 port) CA18s out there still on stock intake.

Spend the money on an intake if you "want" it, but don't fool yourself into thinkin that you "need" it.
When u get to the point where an intake swap would be beneficial (for those "intense" builds), you never see those folks asking about intake gains on a forum .....and that's from my observation

So what ur saying is an intake plenum is pointless and I need an Ebay t3/t4 coz thats twice youve made reference to Ebay turbos. I like the plenums for how they look and kinda clean things up a little bit and for the fact that either a) you build it right or b) buy a quality one, they perform well. But lets leave that argument to other thread and not clutter this one.
